Monica's big idea turned out to be a huge flop. See Monica tended to have good plans...or at least what seemed like good plans. They never turned out the way they were supposed to. This just happened to be one of those plans.
It seemed great. Until she had to get up early on a Saturday to work at a girl to sell white straight girl coffee after coffee. Not that Monica could talk she was one of those white girls who got coffee. The time that Monica wasn't serving anyone she got to think of the technicalities of her plan and realized it's several flaws.
For one, Starbucks tended to be everywhere which meant Becca could easily go to any other one. Two Becca could easily be a rare white girl who didn't constantly go to Starbucks. Of course, that seemed highly unlikely.
Monica was about ready to give up and just quit the job she had just started that day when the bell over the door ringed and Becca walked in. Without the boy toy that was with her yesterday. Instantly Monica smiled and waved to her. "Becca, hey!"
"Oh...um you work here?" Becca asked. Monica nodded and realized Becca was holding a Geometry textbook.
"If you need help with math I took Geometry a couple of years ago and could probably answer some of your questions," Monica offered.
"Uh, sure, but first can I have a frozen caramel frappuccino?" she asked and Monica realized she was still working at Starbucks.
"Of course, do you have any coupons?" Monica asked and Becca turned on her phone and pulled up the Starbucks app showing her the free drink coupon. Monica scanned the barcode and turned to look for someone else who would know how to make coffee.
This whole job thing was way overrated. She should be out living her life while she was young. Though Monica knew that even if she wasn't working she wouldn't be out "living her life" either. She would be inside reading, listening to music, or most likely, watching dumb shows on her laptop. Wasting her life away and regretting it only after she had wasted it.
"Um excuse me? Are you going to make my frappuccino or not?" Becca asked and Monica remembered that she was supposed to be doing her job and not contemplating her regrets.
"Yes sorry. This is one of my first days on the job so I'm still figuring things out," Monica confessed and felt incredibly stupid to just have pretty much revealed she had gotten the job after she saw Becca at Starbucks. This was definitely the part of the plan where things came crumbling apart.
"Oh, it's okay. I'll just be over here," she said and walked over to the other side of the counter. Luckily at that exact moment, another employee came back from their break. Glancing at the name tag Monica realized his name was Christopher.
"Chris, can you remind me how to make a frozen caramel frappuccino?" Monica asked and Chris gave her an annoyed glance.
"I'll make it, but you need to learn how to make drinks, or I'm telling the manager and you'll be fired by Monday," he said and Monica thanked him as he walked over to the several machines that Monica was almost positive she could break with one wrong press of a button.
"So, do you go to school nearby?" Monica asked and tried to lean against the counter but ended up leaning against the pastry display and almost knocking the whole thing over.
"Um...yeah. I go to the high school just across the street. I'm a sophomore," Becca said and Monica nodded as if that was something completely relatable.
"I also go to that high school, but I'm a junior," Monica said and Chris suddenly appeared a frozen caramel frappuccino in hand.
"One frozen caramel frappuccino," Chris said and Becca took it smiling warmly at him.
"Thank you," she said and left the book. Monica frowned thinking maybe she was going to stay and work on homework. Monica turned to Chris and slapped his arm.
"Why did you make that so quickly," she whined and Chris gave her an annoyed look.
"Do you want me to tell the manager about you now being able to make drinks right now?"
"Thank you, Chris. You're such a nice, kind-hearted person," Monica tried and Chris just shook his head and walked off to serve another customer. The bell over the door rang and Monica turned hoping Becca had decided to come back to ask for Monica's number.
No such luck. Instead, Gemini was smiling and waving her phone around like an idiot. "Monica guess who just followed me on Instagram?!"
"I don't know, Zac Efron?" Monica asked. She had really been hoping it was Becca.
"No. And stop looking so glum it just happens to by that eyebrows girl from yesterday," she said and Monica instantly was back to her happy go lucky self.
"Really?" Monica asked and reached for Gemini's phone. Gemini handed it over and Monica stared at the screen. Sure enough, the girl that had just walked out of Starbucks was smiling in several Instagram photos. Refreshing the page Monica saw a picture of the Starbucks cup and a comment beneath it.
Getting my daily drink and going to see boo :D
Monica nearly barfed. Boo? Really. This girl was a full out white girl. "What is it?" Gemini asked, noticing Monica's change in mood. Grabbing her phone back she looked at the most recent picture.
"Oh. Told you that she had a boyfriend," Gemini said.
"Shut up. Anyone that calls someone boo is not in a serious relationship," Monica said and crossed her arms.
"I'm just saying you seem pretty upset over something that's not a serious relationship," Gemini smirked and Monica reached over the counter to slap her.
"Just text me her Instagram username. I have some research to do after work."
