Chapter 1

A blanket of fog settles over the quiet town of Southwood. The early morning chill nips a Rosie's small toes. Her long brown hair wilded and tangled from sleep. Rosie's eyes flutter open to the honey orange and yellow rays that float through her bedroom window. She yawns and stretches before walking out to the kitchen. " morning" Rosie sings cheerfully " morning dear, how'd you sleep" Rosie's mother says while flipping the pancakes " alright", " that's good now quick stick you have to be ready for your first day of school" Rosie's mother smiles and pushes a brown curl from her face, people say that Rosie and her mother look identical but Rosie doesn't see it. "URG do I have to" Rosie moans, " yes it will be fun I promise" her mum says "careful what you promise" Rosie says. She then runs up to her room gets changed into a pair of dark wash denim jeans, a light blue sweater and white converse, quickly pulls a brush through her messy hair and puts her everyday light brown bag across her body. "Bye mum see you this afternoon" Rosie yells "bye honey good luck".

Southwood is an old and quiet town, with only one high school and one crappy shopping centre. As she walks she kicks at the gravel on the ground. "Hey" she hears someone yell behind her, Rosie doesn't look back, "hey" she hears the same voice yell again, Rosie turn "what" "hi I'm Patrick, you must be Rosie the new girl In town that everyone's talking about" Patrick was a tall and built boy around Rosie's age, his blonde shaggy hair blows in the wind and his blue eye wait for a response, "yeah that's me". Patrick starts to walk and Rosie follows beside him "so your from Brooklyn right" he says while kicking at the stony ground, "yeah how'd you know" Rosie asks, "everyone's been talking about the new girl" he answers, "ahh really everyone" Rosie kringes", "yeah pretty much".

After a while Patrick and Rosie get to Southwood high school. A sea of students flood the entrance, giggling and gossiping echos though the air. "You scared" Patrick smiles "nope" Rosie huffs "you so are" he says shoving his hands in his pockets "I'm not" she says in an angry tone "ok" Patrick starts walking into school, Rosie follows him to a building that says office infornt of it. "Let me guess this is the office" Rosie smiles and points to the sign, "oh how'd you guess" Patrick laughs and opens the door to walk in. The office smelt of cleaning products and everything was either gray or a horrible dark blue colour. "Hello Patrick what can I do for you today" said a lady with silver hair wrap in a bun and a sultana aged face, "well good day mrs Martha's I have here a new student" Patrick gestured his hand toward me, "ahh hello sweety I'll get then principal for you" mrs Martha's voice was high pitch and awfully annoying.

A couple of minitues later a tall man with black hair and a crushed suit came stomping down the hall. "Rosalyn pierce" his voice was extremely deep "ahh Rosie" I mumble, "well Rosie I'm principal Collins and welcome to Southwood, I see you've met Patrick jones already, I'm sure he'll show you to your classes" principal Collins says while passing Patrick my time table, "alright, ok, that's everything off you go have a lovely first day".

"Come on Rosie" Patrick pinches get arm and She follows him out in to the frosty winter air. "Your first class is science, aww and your in my class" Patrick smiled, "wait. Your in grade 10 too" she says astonished "well yes". It was weird because Patrick jones looked at least grade 11 or 12 only a bit older then Rosie. "Come on let's go" Rosie follows behind Patrick to their science class, when she notices a black ink mark on the side of his neck, it curved and bent slightly around his neck. "Hey what's that on your neck".

"What" Patrick says his eyes wide, "on your neck is it a tattoo", "ohh yeah it my tattoo" he says. Rosie couldn't help but feel like she'd said something wrong and the silence ate at her toes. "Here room d164" Patrick smiles, "science", "yep". They both walk into the class where their greeted to a women about Rosie's mothers age, her blonde hair tightly curled around her face and her expression was sharp and emotionless, "you must be Rosalyn pierce" she said "um Rosie" "ok well Rosie, I'm ms flatly and there's one seat left up the back for you" ms flatly said pointing to the back of the class room. Rosie started to walk while looking at the ground and she couldn't help but feel all eyes on her. When she finally got to her seat she sat and place all her things on her desk and the teacher continued with her lesson.
