The bathroom at the palace was magnificent. There was so much room in the bathtub and Jin could have easily slipped in there with Pale. He wanted to so badly, but he knew he couldn't take advantage of someone so lost and fragile.

[two days later]
"Welcome to our annual Alice bidding! I'll be your host tonight as the Mad Hatter did it last time. My name is Namjoon!" announced the March Hare. "Don't forget to grab more champagne whenever you run out and don't forget to drink a lot!"
The residents of Alice raised their glasses and cheered. There was a loud commotion in the bidding room. The lights were dimmed and dark. The residents could barely see who was who, but all they knew was a new Alice was here.
Pale was wearing a satin blue dress with heels. She had a glass of champagne in her hand and a bidding fan in her other. She stood in the back of the room to wait for the bidding to commence.
"What are you doing in the corner?" Baekhyun asked as he slid next to her.
Pale shrugged. "Just waiting while drinking my champagne. I'm not really in the mood to be mingling with people at the moment."
"You say that, but we both know that once the bidding starts, you're going to plaster on that fake kitten smile and talk."
Pale chuckled. "That is what I do, isn't it? I'm sorry, Baekhyun. I've been going through a rough time because of the murder and my power."
"It's okay," he replied, his eyes focusing next to her.
"Is there...someone next to me?" she asked, her body going rigid and straight.
"There was," he replied. "They're gone now, but I just thought it was... Nevermind. It's not important who it was."
Pale stared up at him in worry and confusion. "Baekhyun? Who did you think it was?"
"Nothing, nobody. You shouldn't worry about someone so irrelevant," he spat out. It was as if he was insulting the person in order to drive them away.
Baekhyun put his hand on her back and led her to the seats in front of the stage. The bidding was about to begin. The lights completely went dark and the only light they had to guide them was the spotlight on the stage.
"Today we have Alice #60. He goes by the name of Kim Seokjin. He is mostly an introvert, loves food and seems to have a black hole in his stomach, he can play the guitar, and loves to cuddle with lots of stuffed animals," Namjoon said, listing off of an index card in his hand. "Is there anyone who would like to bid for this Alice?"
Pale did something that shocked Baekhyun. She raised her fan.
