Kira,
I think I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?
Ken

My first love note on the first day of the new school year. I am now a second year student but still uncertain if I am prepared to have my firstboyfriend.
Ken is a childhood friend. We are neighbors and I always overhear my mom and his mom talking about plans of getting us married someday. It isn't a bad idea. At least I don't have to look for love like others do and fail miserably. But somehow, I imagine my love life to be different.
Ken used to look awkward but now in his teens, I admit he is handsome. His eyes are a captivating blue color despite being of Asian descent. His fair skin complements his chestnut brown hair. He wears contact lenses instead of his dorky-looking glasses. At times though he still uses glasses but he probably had them replaced with the modern ones. To top it off, he is one of the first five players in his basketball team. He's quite popular among girls.
But, he passes this note to me during homeroom. Of course, this takes me by surprise. I had to think what my positive physical attributes are but shake my head when I realize there is none. Or at least for me.
I catch him looking at me and I instantly blush. My heart pounds on my ribcage as if it wants to tell him yes, you can have her!
But wait! I need to think this over. It's just the first day of school, after all!
I hurry home to tell mom of my unusually eventful first day at school but when I arrive home I see her with Ken's mom in the kitchen making dinner.
I remember it's dinner with the neighbors kind of night and Ken will be here later too. I find it awkward that we still do this. It will be more awkward later because of this! I look at the paper in my hand again and decide to throw it away. Now, my only problem is getting through tonight's dinner.
