BFFs with BTS

chapter 1

Hi, my name is Taylor, and my best friends are Dri and BTS. Listen, I know what you're thinking, "wow, you're friends with a famous korean boyband?! That's so cool!!" Yeah well, I suppose it would be cool if I got to see them, but with them being on tour or traveling all the time, my relationship with the 7 boys has almost hit rock bottom over the past few years. Dri, who has been my best friend since I can remember, met two of the boys, Jungkook and Jimin, when we were in grade school together. Needless to say that us four were attached at the hip, and up until 9th grade, that didn't change. However, 9th grade meant high school, which meant new people. Somehow, though the four of us stayed close, Jungkook and Jimin found this group of guys who they seemed to really get along with. Before long, the 7 of them were inseparable, and Dri and I were always with them whenever they did anything. As time passed, Dri and I could tell we were developing crushes on two of the boys. I had a thing for Taehyung and she had a thing for Yoongi, but neither of us were able to admit that to anyone but each other. We figured it was best for all of us to stay friends without any awkward feelings, and we were fine with that.
They all had a passion for music, so when they decided they wanted to perform at the talent show our sophomore year, we all thought it was a great idea. However, at the time, none of us knew that a talent scout was in the audience, and decided to give the 7 boys a chance to become idols. They took him up on the offer, and almost overnight, BTS was born. They left school and lived the idol life for almost 3 years, and Dri and I would only see them when they would return to visit family. However, freshman year of college was about to start, and BTS decided as a group that they were going to all move home and go to school together and take a hiatus from the idol life that they had known. Needless to say when Dri and I heard this news, we were ecstatic and we immediately started planning a huge surprise party for their return, that was ultimately just going to be the 9 of us.
We have two groups chats, one with Jungkook, Jimin, Dri, and I (which was named the Four Musketeers 👫👫) and then a group chat with the nine of us (that one was named Groupies ✊🏻). None of us really texted outside of the group chats, we were all pretty comfortable just talking to each other. However, when we were discussing the party in the Groupies chat, something seemed a little...off with Taehyung, and none of us could really figure out what it was.
