Exposition

The night was dreadful. My family was kept like a dog and put into a kennel. Just waiting in the kennel terrified for when the owner comes to get us.

Thomas, my little 4 year old brother, asked mum what was going on. It was terrifying to see my mum, the most brave person I know, crumble down and start to sob. She needs my pap. Pap is already in the camps. I'm terrified for him. He's the families rock and shield. We need him.

My name is Charlotte Bilinger and this diary just might be my last.

Chapter 1

Last night, we were put into a ghetto. The Nazis are closed in around us just waiting for movement and then they will strike.

They are like a lion, watching the gazelles every movement. And we are the gazelles, we were just prancing through the meadow until the lion decides to strike. Then we run.

Last night was the night were they caught us.
