T'CHALLA'S POV
Mother looked at me and said,"T'Challa, I have noticed a change in you lately. Care to inform me on what is causing it?"
I had no idea what Mother would possibly talking about, but I had been a lot quieter than usual. It was only because I was pondering on how to approach Okoye.
She was one of the best warriors Wakanda had, yet she had managed to find her way into my heart. I had feelings for her, but it wasn't just because of her beauty. It was because of her guidance, integrity, and determination to fight for what she believed in. As king, I admired that very much. The second Okoye walked in, I cleared my throat and said,"Yes, Okoye?"
She stood tall and addressed to me of the problem of settling a dispute between two of the tribes. While she talked to me, I zoned out and just gazed at her.
When I snapped out of it, Okoye was giving me a look.I just said,"Well, we better find a way to end the dispute. We can't afford anymore losses and I won't allow it. Not in my kingdom. You look well."
Okoye smiled and nodded to me saying,"Thank you, my king. I appreciate that. Now, are we going to try to take care of the dispute or just stand here?"
I chuckled and motioned for Okoye to lead the way. As I walked with her, I noticed Shuri standing outside talking to mother.
Shuri saw Okoye and I and mouthed,"She doesn't like you, brother."
I rolled my eyes and Okoye led me all the way out to the fields. The dispute seemed to be between M'Baku and another tribe leader.
I immediately received both of their attention, and they bowed to me.
I explained to them,"No need, but I appreciate the respect. Now, we are all a family here. There is no reason for there to be any fights going on in my lands. We work together, yes, not apart from one another?"
M'Baku nodded, as did the other tribe leader. I was not familiar with him, but I was guessing this was done between his tribe. I introduced myself and asked M'Baku to get to know him.
M'Baku agreed to my request and Okoye said,"Well done, my king. I would have done it differently, but your way was still effective."
I smiled at Okoye and said,"What way would you have solved it, Okoye?"
Okoye looked me in the eyes and said,"I would have given them a reason to work together and argue about their egos."
I nodded and asked Okoye,"What do you think of my own?"
Okoye seemed surprised by my question, but I was curious in her answer.
Okoye answered,"I don't think you have an ego. You're very respectful, yet loving of your people. You will do whatever it takes for Wakanda and all we can do is be grateful to have a king like you. I am grateful Killmonger did not keep the throne. That was also very sweet for what you did for him."
I replied,"It was the right thing to do. Okoye, would you like to join me for dinner sometime?"
Okoye smiled at me and bowed saying,"It would be my honor, my king. It would be my honor."
