Sirens and alarms in the surrounding room blared out as you scrambled to take over the control panel. Lights flashed rapidly in the dimly lit cockpit notifying you that the faulting shuttle was damaged; probably beyond repair. Your hands grabbed the nearest tiller, trying your best to maneuver the ship from incoming debris.
The shuttle had taken a hit from an unseen meteor, miraculously killing the pilot and causing enough damage to the shuttle's main control systems to stop functioning. All functions were now switched to manual control, but even then you alone couldn't handle such an unstable ship without hitting a few more incoming space rocks.
You were a stormtrooper damn it, not a pilot.
You didn't have that kind of training.
The shuttle caught fire upon entry of the planet ahead; however, it wasn't one you could identify from it's exterior. The unknown lush green planet was not familiar to you, nor did you know of one having an asteroid belt.
You tried everything you could possibly think of to end this hellish ride - pressing buttons, turning dials and flicking switches, even manually trying to boot up the auto-pilot system, which only made things worse as it shorted the emergency lightings. All you could see now was the incoming planet before you and the impact flames flaring framing the rim of the glass. The shuttle's cockpit became extremely hot and uncomfortable as it burnt in entry.
"kriff, what have I gotten myself into!?" you mentally scream to yourself.
Your body and mind panicked as you tried to steer this disabled metal tin-can to the ground without blowing it up. You could feel your stomach move to your chest, and your heart beating furiously in your mind.
You were beyond terrified, you were petrified. Petrified of what was going to happen next. Petrified that everything, after you land, will be worse than it had originally started...
Flashback to where you were on the finalizer...
Resistance fighters had initiated a surprise attack and left the ship vulnerable, defenseless, and severely damaged. It was so bad that an all-crew evacuation was needed.
The emergency shuttle you were in was chased for miles until you lost them in a gas cloud. But that was an hour ago when that happened...
The shuttle shook as it gained more velocity, plummeting towards the ground like a meteor. This was bad enough position to be in, alone, but worse with another person. especially if that person was a very important official, the general.
He was unconscious when you had gotten him on board the last of the shuttles, just before the battlecruiser combusted. You were lucky to have made it to the ship with him...
But with all due respect, this was no time to reflect on past events.
The planet surface was coming into view, and you had to brace for impact.
