AUTHOR'S NOTES~
*If any wish to create a cover page for this, I would be most honored. I will dedicate this peom to whomever, if any, I decide upon. Some suggestions would a desert scene, with mountains in the distance & a stormy sky with the main character rearing. Remember, just a suggestion, anything is welcome.
*I appreciate any feedback from readers.
*I also am new & would love help & support as I begin on here. I still am understanding the whole program, & this is my first work I have put up.
*Thank You For Reading!
On a warm summer night,
With the stars and moon so bright
Where grew the pinon and sagebrush,
And the green grass so lush,
Where sky and mountains and stars meet
Came the sound of a single hoof beat
And because of only one, one would wonder
Then came the sound of great thunder.
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
So free and glorious
The urge so notorious
Like a raging storm
Wildness takes form
Never to be tamed
Only to be named
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
Flashes of gold, silvers, blacks, browns, and bays
Then a flash of pewter grey, he stops and neighs
A dappled grey stallion
His herd his medallion
And in the midst, a few foals
For passing on his lines, his goals
Then suddenly, a horse neighs with all his might
A pure black stallion, collecting mares, challenges a fight
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
Pure power and grace
In the heart, freedom’s base
From end to end,
In every bend
In every heart and soul’
Wildness is the goal
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
The grey stallion answers back with a challenging neigh
Who will win, none can say
They circle and size each other
The mares watch, looking at one another
Who will win, the grey or black,
Both with a fighting knack
The black strikes first and lunges
The air, in shrill screams, it plunges
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
Ever so fierce
With eyes to pierce
The spirit of a raging fire
With freedom so dire
Be free, oh so great
That it can never wait
Wild thunder
The joy and wonder
The battles noises of hooves ‘n bodies ‘n neighing
The growing light is graying
And still the battle rages on
Yet the ferocity and might is not yet gone
They kick ‘n slash ‘n bite
With all of their might
Then a shrill neigh of defeat and the sun just risen glorious
As one runs off defeated and leaves the victorious
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
With freedom so needed
Other wants are defeated
Wildness is a part of us
Over it we fuss
It’s in our every vein
Never to be slain
Oh, wild thunder
The joy and wonder
The defeated neigh still echoes on the canyon walls
To whom his herd he calls
The victor watches him go
Then he bows low
Then high on his legs he rears
Towards the sky he strikes and nears
But who is the victor we all wonder,
It is the dappled grey, Wild Thunder
Oh, Wild Thunder
The joy and wonder
A battle so bravely fought
A lesson to his son he taught
Black Lightning, his son
To whom he won
Still and always undefeated
To his herd he needed
Oh, Wild Thunder
The joy and wonder.

PoetryNot much to say on a poem without giving everything away, so I will just say this. This is a poem on a wild horse fight and focuses on a main goal in all of us.
