Dear World,
I'm your normal- well, kind of- fifteen-year-old girl. A girl who spends most of her time reading and watching useless videos on YouTube. A girl who has not a lot of friends, but a small amount. However, all of her friends, she chooses wisely, and she loves them all equally. A girl who walks down the hallways with her hands in her pockets and her head down low. Has anxiety with every breath and beats almost every guy in a burping competition.
Okay, maybe I'm not your typical fifteen-year-old girl, but I'm me. I'm Haylee. There's a thousand other Haylee's in the world but none like me, I guess. Just like almost everything in this world, I have a secret. I'm in love with my best friend.
I've known my best friend since seventh grade, he was a shy guy. One of my own people I guess haha. Every time I see him walking down the halls, my heart drops. It's cliche, I know. He's different. Everyone in this town is so..basic? He doesn't care what anybody thinks about him, he walks down the hallway with this head hung high as he laughs. Oh, his laugh. It feels my heart with joy when he laughs. He wears this black hoodie to school every day, he doesn't care if people stare at him. I wish I could be half as carefree as he is. He knows my favorite video games, the little catchphrases I say, and most importantly, he notices me.
Most people don't notice me. I'm just another face in the crowd. Not him, no, he sees me. He listens to me, he turns away from talking to his guy friends just to talk to me. He sits with me on Skype for three hours, we don't even have to say a word. In fact, as I'm writing this, he's on the phone on the other end of the call. All you can hear is the sound of me typing and the sound of his foot tapping on the floor (a cute little thing he does). We'll be in class, bored, and he'll pull out a deck of cards and play BlackJack with me.
Maybe other people feel the same way about somebody they like, I'm not sure. All I know is that I've never felt this way before. He makes me feel like something important.
I know one thing for sure, I may be shy, sarcastic, awkward, and extremely good at burping, but I deserve love just like everyone else. However, this is much more than normal, regular, romantic love, this is my best friend. The boy I have loved and cared for since the seventh grade. A boy who has treated me with respect, something that I've never gotten before. Even if nothing ever happens romantically, there is definitely still love. A love like no other. As a best friend or a boyfriend, this is the love everyone deserves.
Sincerely
