Chapter 11,
Deelana's POV
I gave Zack lots of distance this entire week. I'm not sure why, but I have a swelling feeling inside of me that he's growing tired of me. I could be wrong, but he did not make an effort to see me this week either. I was busy at the pool banking hours.
I peeked through my window and he was doodling on a sheet of paper. He was sitting at a desk, his shoulders hunched in front of a dimly-lit green desk lamp glowing in the darkness. I couldn't make out what he was drawing.
I opened my window and his was already open, giving him a cool night breeze. It's already dark outside, which means that it is past ten o'clock for sure! I went to my bookcase and pulled out the second book of the Twilight Saga and chucked it onto his bed.
"AH!" He screamed and fell back in his chair. I laughed harder than I probably should have.
"Sorry-"
"If you keep this up, I'm going to need a bigger shelf for my books," he chuckled and I giggled. "Where have you been all week?" He wondered and my stomach flipped from the thought that he missed me.
"Working. What are you drawing?" I changed the subject and he covered it up with a stack of plain papers and a portfolio.
"What? Oh. Nothing," he denied rapidly and I shrugged. "I'm hungry. Want to catch a bite to eat?" He asked and I shrugged, again.
"I only know of one place that is open this late but we can hurry-"
"Meet me on the lawn in twenty minutes," he hollered and closed his window and curtains. I got dressed in a summer dress and curled my hair, applying light makeup. I snatched a pair of white flats and my phone on the way out.
"Dad?" I called and there was no reply. He must be in his office. I went into his wallet and took a twenty. "Thanks," I shouted and ran out laughing to myself. He always takes my money, and I always take his. It's a messed up system that we have.
I greeted Zack on the lawn. He wore his glasses and green sweater vest with a white dress shirt underneath. His hair had been ruffled a bit, but I enjoyed the nerdy look that he has going on.
"My car," I said and he remembered to hop in the backseat this time.

Zayn's POV
"For you?" The male waiter asked and I shrugged.
"Pizza?" I answered, unsure. He gave me at least twenty options and I replied with cheese.
"Only you would go to a pizza parlor and order pizza," Deelana swatted my arm and I flushed. We made small-talk until our large pizza arrived and we divided it down the middle. It was the size of our table! I felt sick to my stomach from simply looking at it.
"Anything else I can get you?" The waiter approached us and smiled warmly at Deelana. She didn't seem to notice, but I did!
"A refill of my water would be great-"
"Mine, too" I interrupted his ogling and drank the entire glass of water before shoving it into his pale hands. He picked up Deelana's empty glass and nodded towards me before walking off. After he departed, Deelana raised an eyebrow at me and smirked.
"He was very handsome," Deelana taunted me and I bobbed my knee up and down out of anger. I excused myself and stormed into the loo to splash my face with water, resting my hands on the counter and breathing in and out slowly.
"This is fucking ridiculous," I said to myself and a bald man emerged from one of the bathroom stalls, the toilet flushing obnoxiously. He was clutching a newspaper in his armpit and I recognized my band's name written in bold letters.
