Nik was sleeping in a chair next to the bed, when he suddenly heard a scream. His eyes snapped open, in the bed Felicity was moaning, and crying out. " Please, please don't hurt me! Please! Please, stop! Stop!" Nik jumped out of the chair. "Felicity?" He put a hand on her arm. She jerked awake. " Nik?" Nik sighed. 'I'm right here, Felicity. I'm right here. You are going to be all right." Felicity jumped out of the bed and ran to the bathroom. Nik followed her, and held her hair. When she was all done she was too spent to even get up off the floor. Nik carried her back to the bed, and lay down beside her. " Nik?" " What is it, Felicity?" he asked." Why is it so cold in here?" she asked. " It's not cold in here, Felicity. You have a high body fever and your body temperature is out of wack, that's all." He leaned over to the bowl grabbed the towel, and rung it out. Nik placed it on her head again. " How are you doing?" he asked. 'I'm scared and weak and tired -- really really tired." She said. " Then go to sleep. I'll be right here." Nik said. Felicity reached for his hand and put it on her stomach. " The baby is kicking." She said. He kept his hand there since she didn't seem to mind. Instead she sighed with a smile on her face. She stayed awake a little longer, all the while watching him absorb the feeling of the little one kicking inside of her. The last thing she saw before falling asleep was him looking at her

Nik sat there and watched Felicity sleep. He had kept his hand on her stomach relishing the feel of the baby kicking inside of her. He kept on checking her temperature every thirty minutes, just to be sure that the fever wasn't going to get higher. He also kept putting the cool clothes on her forehead, to keep the fever from getting higher. He wanted to see where this relationship would go, and it wouldn't go anywhere if she died. He would not let anything happen to her. He made a vow to himself that no matter what happened between them, no one would hurt her under his watch. Because he could guarantee that she was running from something. Or that someone was after her.
