Jaxon's POV

Mom: Honey! Are you ready?!

My mom yelled from the other side of my bedroom door.

Jaxon: Almost!

I yelled back.

Mom: Well then hurry up! We're leaving soon!

Jaxon: I'll be right there!

We yelled back and forth. I finally heard footsteps going down the stairs. I looked at an old photo with me, my mom and dad.

Jaxon: *sigh* I miss you dad.

After my dad died, I've been suffering from depression. Mom said he died from war, he's in the military. He died when I was 7 years old and mom was pregnant that time. When I found out he died, I didn't talk much for a week. I cry a lot about it when I was little. The day Dad died, Mom had to lie about Dad's death. But eventually, she told me. She had to tell me. I always asked her when's dad coming back, she just kept telling me soon.

A tear fell down the picture. I felt the pain. Like a knife piercing through my heart then slowly removing it.

Then, I heard footsteps going up the stairs. I'm guessing it's my mom. I wiped out my tears. I put the picture in my pocket and wore my bag. I quickly got out and mom was heading to my room. She looked at me suspiciously.

Mom: Are you ok honey?

Jaxon: Yeah. I'm... Fine.

She looked closer to my face. She then had a sad look.

Mom: Jax. Are you thinking about your father again?

Jaxon: Yeah.

Mom gave me a warm hug. I hugged back. She then stepped away. She gave me a smile.

Mom: Is that better?

I smiled back.

Jaxon: Yeah.

Mom: Good.

She stared deep into my eyes.

Mom: You know, you have your father's eyes.

Jaxon: I do?

Mom: Yeah. You do. You remind me of him. Come down stairs. I'll show you something.

She went down first and I followed her. She was sitting at the kitchen. I moved closer and saw her holding 2 presents.

Jaxon: Are those presents for me?

Mom: Yeah.

Jaxon: But my Birthday is in 3 weeks.

Mom: I know. But... This is not your real gifts.

Jaxon: Huh? What do you mean?

Mom: These gifts are from me. But the other one is from someone else.

Jaxon: Who?

Mom: You'll know on your birthday. Here. Enjoy your gifts.

Mom handed me the present. I looked at her.

Mom: Well? Open it!

I smiled. I opened the first one brutally and excitingly and my face lit up and an O was forming in my mouth. My Mom bought me 3 videogames. But not just any videogames, it was NBA2K18, Call of Duty WWII and Skylanders Imaginators. I've been waiting for my whole life for these games and I can't believe that I finally have it. Now I'm excited to open the box. I opened the box allot more brutally and excitingly and this one made a huge grin to my face. It was a box full of Skylanders Characters.

I ran to my mom and hugged her tightly.

Jaxon: Thanks Mom!

Mom: Hey! Not so tight.

I moved away quickly.

Jaxon: Sorry.

Mom: It's ok. Do you like it?

Jaxon: I love it! I've been waiting for it my whole life. Thanks Mom. You're the best.

Mom: Aww that's so sweet. You're welcome honey. Now pack it up, we're going.

Jaxon: Ok mom.

I got my videogames and put it in my bag and for the box, I placed in the truck. I got in the car and mom started the car. We lived in Hamilton, Canada but now we're going to move to Toronto, Canada. I'm not really that excited to move. New school, new friends, new life. I don't think I wanna have a new life. I love it here on Hamilton. It is my life. All the memories I've made, all the friends I've made. They're all my life. But looks like a new life is starting and I'm leaving that past life.

I put on my headphones and played a song called Perfect by Ed Sheeran. I dozed off and after 5 hours of driving, I woke up at our new house.
