The door burst open leaving a smoke screen in its wake, and in the shadowy entrance stood a tall silhouetted figure...

"Eiji Sato, your under arrest for possession of magical items of level 2 or over"

The figure stepped forward revealing a dark haired and tall man, who appeared to be in his 20s. From his pocket he pulled a handgun, but it was no typical weapon, with magical enchantments laced throughout the handle. As he raised the weapon, prepared to fire at the slightest provocation Eiji dropped to the floor,  unconscious revealing yet another figure behind him this time more feminine and shorter than the first detective.

"Agent Akane, this may be your first day on the job but next time try to be faster, I don't want to use lethal force if I don't have to"

"Yes sir" she was quick to respond

After collecting the 4 items which appeared to be no more than mana sources, the two left the building stepping into the neon lights of Shinjuku.

"Sir" Akane began only to be interrupted mere moments later

"I told you to call me by my last name, there's no need for such formalities Akane"

"Of course s-tanaka san"

"I was just wondering why we were given such a menial task, I was hoping for a more exciting first assignment" she continued

"You'll get your excitement at some point rookie, just give it time, and in the mean time why don't we get back to the department with him and his items"

Akane gave a discreet nod of her head before grabbing the suspect and getting in the car.

She entered with a sigh, that Tanaka seemed to purposefully ignore. It's not that the car was horrible, quite the opposite it was warm, spacious and gentle. What Akane hated was the awkward silence that seemed to follow her around like a cloud.

Following the car journey back to the department HQ, which felt like an eternity to Akane, the duo handed in the suspect and the collected magical devices before heading to Tanaka's office.

"You did well for your first day Akane, some things to improve on but nobodies perfect on their first day" he smirked

Akane nodded before slowly standing only to be stopped by Tanaka as he called her back.

"There's one more thing Akane, tomorrow we'll be heading to check out a new source of mana production detected near Yoyogi so prepare yourself rookie"

With another nod, this time much more enthusiastic, Akane left the office and headed toward the nearby subway station, and then home.

After preparing a quick instant ramen and taking a shower, she headed to bed checking her phone and setting the alarm beforehand before swiftly drifting to sleep...
