The game seems innocent, choose between answering the truth to any kind of question or doing some, usually nasty, task. Simple, right?
In fact, it's not that simple when it is the person you fell for who asks the fateful question...
"So, go ahead and tell us who you're crushing on! Unless they're among us~..."
This mischievous look in their eyes would surely make me melt if I didn't already have shut down when they had asked the question.
"I... I'll take the dare. After all, it's boring if we're just answering questions... Come on, anything, I'll do it.
"As you want. What could I make you do..."
Good, I'm saved!
"Anything, you say?"
...Or not.
"I dare you..." His eyes set on a bottle of vodka lying around. "To drink this bottle in one go!"
Crap.
I'm not usually someone who drinks that much, but if it is the price to pay to keep my feelings hidden then, I guess I have no choice but do it.
I say a quick "Alright" and grab the bottle. I'm so going to regret this tomorrow. Now, it can't be so terrible. I gather my courage and bring the vodka to my lips, my friends watching me.
In contact with the alcohol, my mouth seems on fire but I force myself to continue drinking and, rapidly, the bottle is empty.
"Huh, it wasn't that bad after all." The vodka had already been drunk from before I took it, thankfully.
"Woah, I've never seen you down alcohol so quickly." Seth laughs.
I'm glad this is the case, I'm a lightweight.
And like that, the party goes on.

"Alright, my turn to ask a question now." I say, looking for my next victim.
"I'm going to go crash to bed instead." Yawns Aaron.
"Me too." Mary says, reinforcing her grip around her boyfriend.
"Quitters..." I pout at them, Mary replies with a smile as Eric sends me the finger, which I obviously send back.
The two lovers went upstairs, there is only five around the table now.
Seth pretext a need to smoke and goes outside to light one. Soon, he's joined by Gregory, who needs "some fresh air", as he says. It would be nice if these two just got together already...
Now just three of us at the table, this party is going to end soon.
All of a sudden, Kate gets up and declares she needs to go to the bathroom fast then disappears.
Finally, the situation I feared - and at the same time, hoped- happens. I find myself alone with Sam.
It looks like one of those cliché romance movies.
"Well, I guess I'm the only one left. Shoot me your question." Sam laughs, his arms gesturing to the empty chairs.
They're no longer my friends, I think with bitterness. They probably left me with Alex on purpose, those little... Anyway, I'll take care of them later, here's my chance to take advantage of the situation. Hey, it's not because I'm happy with the turn of events that I have to let them get away like that, what an awful friend I'd be.
Anyway, back on topic; I have absolutely no idea of what to ask. Well, in fact, I do have one question burning my lips, but I'm not drunk enough yet. So I take a bottle, not caring what kind, and down it. That should do it.
"Earlier, you asked me if I was crushing on someone, I didn't answer but it's still fair that I ask the same to you, right? So, did you fell for someone? " Wow, alcohol really makes people more carefree. Or it might be that I'm just too tired to even realize what's going on. These last hours could have been a dream, I wouldn't be surprised.
Sam looks at me like they are... I don't know... Confused? Amused?
They laugh and approach me. What is happening?
Sam takes my hand, then whispers "Isn't it obvious?" and kiss me.
I am taken aback but don't resist. I have been waiting for this moment for so long. I don't care if it's a dream, it's the best night of my life!
The kiss ends, and my thoughts clear up.
"It's not a dream." I say aloud as if to convince myself.
"Yup, it's real." Sam answers me. Oh boy, do I love them.
"So, we're together now, right?" I ask shyly.
"Yes, unless you do not want-"
"What?! No, no, no, no, shit... Yes, of course! I mean... Yes, I want to be your girlfriend." I nod my head quickly and hold their hand tight. Way to be subtle.
"So when I asked who you were crushing on... it was me?" Sam asks with a proud smile adorning his face.
"Isn't it obvious?" I'm blushing so hard right now.
"Come on, I just want to hear you say it." And now, they're pouting at me. I hate this.
"Alright... I love you. There, happy?" I am so embarrassed, at least, the others aren't here to see this terrible sight.
"I love you too, darling." Sam leaves a kiss on my forehead.
"I think it's time we all go to bed, we'll clean up tomorrow, what do you say?"
"Sounds like a plan."
*****
As I think into Morpheus's arms, I hear Sam whisper:
"Sweet dreams, my love."
And, with this, I go to the land of dreams with a smile plastered on face.
