"Hey, Nikki! Wait! Nikki!" someone called from behind me.
I turned around and saw Kelsey rushing up from behind me. A strand of her dark brown hair had fallen in her face in her mad attempt to get my attention. Her book bag, well, more like an oversized leather purse, had several papers poking out as she adjusted it on her shoulder.
"What's up?" I asked her, interested to know why she was in such a rush to tell me something.
She caught up to me and matched my pace, "Welll..... There's a rumor going around."
"Oh? What kind of rumor?" I turned my head to look over at her.
"The rumor is that you're going to be asked out."
"But, I'm already dating Jack?" It came out as more of a question, signaling her to clarify.
"I know right! Why would someone ask you out if you're taken? That's why I'm not sure if they're true, or just rumors." she brushed her hand over the side of her face, pulling the stray piece of hair with her.
"Well, do you know who?"
"Well, kind of.."
"What do you mean kind of?"
"I don't know his name or anything specific, I just know that he is not your type. He's one of those 'in betweens' that's not really popular, but just sitting awkwardly in the middle," she said putting air quotes around 'in betweens'.
"Oh. Well, okay. If you find out anything else, just text me, okay?" I called out to her as I started to veer towards my locker.
"Alrighty! If anything happens, do the same," she smiled, walking the opposite direction on the way to an unknown location.
God, I can't stand that girl! All she brings is gossip, which most of the time isn't even true. All she does is spread rumors, some of which she starts her self, and cause drama. And her voice. It makes me want to cut my ears off; it's high pitched and has made me momentarily deaf more than once.
And she's so 'judgey' if that's even a word. I get that I'm judging her right now, but I have gotten to know her. She judges people before she even knows their name, which I think is completely rude. Sometimes I do that to people too, though, I have to admit. But only to those sluts who basically wear underwear and a bra to school. Like, seriously? This is a high school, not a strip club.
I strolled up to locker number 38 and shifted my books in my arms so I could grip the lock. I rotated the dial to '6 29 18'. I yanked on the lock but it still didn't budge. I let out a groan of frustration and started again.
"Having trouble, babe?" Jack said with a chuckle.
"What do you think?" I looked up at him gesturing to my still unopened locker.
"I'll take that as a yes. Here I got this," I stepped aside giving him access to my locker.
He knew my combination already.. Let's just say I've had this problem before. He opened the locker in one swift movement and looked back at me with a smirk playing on his face.
"Eh, you got lucky," I teased. I let my act down a bit when I'm around Jack. He still thought I was the typical popular girl, but he sometimes got to see the playful side of me. The only people I let my walls down around were Morgan and Cameron. They knew the real me, the side I wish I could show everyone. But they wouldn't understand.
"Haha, okay sure, whatever you call it."
"Bye, Jack!" I started walking away.
"What, no goodbye kiss?"
"Nope."
"Oh. Oh. I see how it is. Whatever, bye," he started walking, to his class probably. He can be silly sometimes too. I know there is a real personality in him, he just chooses not to show it, like me.
Now time for 49 minutes in Hell.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter! I think I'm going to try and make longer chapters, what do you think? And the picture to the right ---> (or at the beginning of the chapter if you are on the mobile version) is Nina Dobrev, who I picture as Nicole. I'll create a cast list as soon as possible.
