 They locked eyes.

It was not as if the two men had known each other, in fact they were hardly acquaintances, and upon this gathering was the first time they had seen each other. What drew Robbie's attention to the man across the table from him, the same thing that subsequently drew Robbie to the other man's attention, had been a proclamation that both had shouted in sync-

"God save her!"

The man across the table from Robbie was looking back at him with a muddled expresion, one which Robbie could not make out, but he assumed it to be something akin to the look presently on his face. However, he could not deny (as hard as he may try) that the man's grey-blue eyes looked as if someone had trapped the storm at sea inside the orbs, and Robbie could not deny, as well, that he found it quite attractive. His lips were parted gently in surprise, and his eyebrows raised high above those aforementioned orbs, and Robbie felt his face grow red.

Robbie's attention was pulled from the man by the queen, who was sitting at the head of the table, who somehow seemed to be less of an attention grabber than the man (odd! Wouldn't you think that Queen Victoria herself, in the flesh, in the skin!- would be the centerpiece of this fine evening that Robert found himself in).

"Ah, Aster, Robbie, you haven't met!" She spoke, waving a sweeping hand between the two seemingly starstruck men. The two jumped and looked at her when she spoke such, and she smiled.

Robbie smiled and extended a hand. "Pleased to meet your acquaintance. I'm Robert Falcon Scott. I take it you will be joining us on the Neverland's maiden voyage?" he asked, a slight smile tugging at the corners of this mouth. Aster firmly took his hand and returned the soft smile. "Affirmative. Pleased to meet you as well, Robbie." Aster replied, a smile stretching across his face and pushing his tinted cheeks upwards of his eyes, which crinkled and caught Robbie stuck in some type of trance, perhaps, or something akin to that, because Robbie found himself gasping lightly at the warm smile and blinking.

The queen laughed at the sight of this.

"You both ought to get acquainted. Or perhaps a bit more than acquainted."

Robbie did not doubt that she meant nothing beyond a close friendship, but he could not help but hear the imaginary wink in the tone of her voice. He laughed awkwardly, and then turned back to Aster, and their eyes locked for the second time that evening, this time holding something heavier than the first time. This time their attention was caught by each other for longer than before, and Robbie could almost swear that Aster had flashed him a smile that meant something beyond friend-like handshakes and hugs.

As the night came to an end, the amount of people in the room began to dwindle, and both the friends that Robbie and Aster had been talking to left them alone, other than other of the two men, who seemed to have such strong chemistry that not even modern science could comprehend it.

Robbie tried to busy himself with his dishes, trying to avoid an awkward encounter, however their meeting was bound to happen. After a moment, Robbie felt a small tap on his shoulder.

He turned and saw, behind him, a very flustered Aster rubbing the back of his head. He took a breath into his chest, which rose dramatically along with his shoulders, and made a struggling face, as if he had forgotten how to speak. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, and finally-

"Excuse me, Robbie, but I thought that we ought to get more acquainted with each other." He said, using elaborate hand gestures to get across his message.

"Oh, yes." Robbie smiled. "I think that would be an awfully great adventure."

---

In this moment, it was almost as if Robbie could see sparkling in Aster's eyes, glitter, or star-stuff, if you will.

He ran his hand gently down Aster's face, who leaned into the touch with a small breath, Robbie feeling the softness of both his skin and the hair on his jawline. Aster reached out his hand and placed it over Robbie's, holding it to his skin. Robbie pulled away his hand and smiled coyly, placing said hand on Aster's hip. Aster seemed to break and leaned in, feeling Robbie's lips brush against his own, and Aster waited for Robbie to fill the gap. He did, and their kisses came like waves, like the waves seemingly trapped in Aster's eyes. After a time, Aster pulled away and placed his hands on Robbie's cheeks.

"Your eyes..." He said, almost as if he had read Robbie's mind, which had been thinking about two things, one of which being the color of Aster's eyes, and the other of which being the softness of his lips.

"My eyes?" Robbie asked.

"They're beautiful. Like- like- starstuff."

Robbie pulled Aster closer from the wall that he had pushed the taller man up against and kissed him again, gripping his hips tightly. As the two bodies intertwined, their kisses increased in passion and intensity. After several minutes, Robbie felt Aster's fingers gently tugging at the buttons of his shirt. When Robbie noticed this he began violently unbuttoning the remaining buttons and practically tearing his shirt off, which soon met the ground after he threw it backwards. He fused his body again with Aster's, kissing him again, and his hands traveled down Aster's torso to meet the firm cheeks that rested where his torso ended, and Aster gasped gently into Robbie's mouth.

"Robbie..." Aster whispered, face ablaze, and this perhaps awoke something in Robbie, for the sound of his sudden desperate attempts to unbuckle his belt rang throughout the room . The man's moans soon followed this sound, and the room suddenly swelled with their beautiful song of passion for one another.

Robbie had seen his fair share of, shall we say, assets, in his time, but Aster's were by far the most magnificent he had seen yet.

The rest of that fine part of the evening was a blur, moving with intensity and passion woven between every breath that they took, and that night the two men found themselves bound to each other in a way that neither had felt themselves bound to another man before.

---

By the moonlight, which softened the features of Aster's and Robbie's faces, a dim scene was visible of the two men lying side by side, their limbs entangled in each others'. Shadows were cast across the white bed sheets and the two men breathed gently in tandem, neither asleep but both at peace. Rustling of the sheets, and Aster turned to face Robbie in the bed.

"Robbie?" He spoke, rubbing the other man's arm with his thumb.

"Yes?" Robbie replied.

"I think, perhaps, that our strangely timed proclamation was a bit more than coincidence."

Robbie could only think that, yes, he sure hoped so. For it was lovely to believe wholeheartedly in magic and destiny, and if Aster agreed with this, he was happy to hold this belief that they were meant to be between them.

"There's not a doubt in my mind."

Aster smiled, closing his eyes and burrowing his head further into the pillow beneath it.

Robbie knew that it had hardly been a day since he met this man in front of him, but somehow this seemed more than, heavier than, any other encounter he had had with any other person in his lifetime, even if the night's result had been the same as tonight's. Perhaps this was just an infatuation, and perhaps the following thought was only one that Robbie had because he was infatuated, but he felt as if he and Aster had been knit together by something greater, and it was a feeling that he never wanted to let go of. Looking at Aster, who's light brown hair had been so beautifully ruffled by the night, who's still lingering grin was spread across his face and turning the whole image into an artwork, he decided, yes, he did want to spend the rest of his life with the man.

"I look forward to spending this adventure of life with you." Robbie said, grasping Aster's hand from beneath the blankets. Aster opened his eyes and placed his head on Robbie's chest affectionately, smiling somehow wider than before.

"Yes," He replied, "I could think of nothing better."

Robbie and Aster knew not what lied ahead of them, what perils and what journeys they would face, not even what would face them when the sun rose in the morning, but one thing was for sure.

Molly would never know.
