It was a routine for her to wake up go to the garage, work till her bones are weak and go to sleep and to continue her routine again. Each and everyday felt like knifes piercing through her heart, each day felt like a nightmare and she just wanted to go back, go back to being an awkward teenager, going back to things she could not ever be.

Currently she was saying in upstate California in a small town filled with happy and naive people. So she could pull off with the story that she was an orphan and wanted to stay somewhere. The people didn't even inquire where she was from, but they were kind enough to give her a place o live in.

At first it was kind of suspicious that the people would just give a place for her to stay, but she was desperate and she would have taken any help from anyone to feel protected and safe. Well it was not much but it was better than sleeping besides the roads.

Eva tried to think positively. Tomorrow would be her pay day .She could buy her own things, perhaps her own clothes, if fortunate repay  the family she was staying with. Now she looked out of the small basement window, up in the sky a group of stars were shining brightly and alone far away was a single star shining in all it's glory. She felt like that now and involuntarily clutched the only thing she had as her own, her mothers pendant.

The pendant looked ancient to her but she never got a chance to look at it carefully nor had her mother shown this as an important thing to her. It was ironic how this small piece of thing was the most valuable possession in her life now.

She examined it carefully and was shocked to find a crack across it, as if it was deliberately made. She swiped a thumb across it and gave a little tug. It just came apart in two pieces and she was shocked to find that it was a USB glinting in the dim lighting of the basement.

After overcoming her initial shock and surprise she fixed the locket back and rested until the sun rose. The necklace was the first clue to her parents death. as she laid down and looked at her broken watch she had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach and many unanswered questions. Why did they kill my parents? for what motive? what had her parents ever done to deserve this? and as she dozed off she made sure she had cancelled her plan to buy clothes and made time to visit the internet cafe.

"Detective officer Jordan Kyle", He looked at his Id proudly and examined yet again. It was just his second day on duty as a detective on the police force. Jordan was looking forward to the day as he walked to the captain's office.

"Today I am going to get my first case" he thought excitedly as he entered Capt. James's office

Captain James was a burly man with a pot belly and electric blue eyes that can make you unnerved and insecure in front of him. He had a calculating gaze that tells you that no lies can be hidden from him. James also had a soft baritone which kept you at ease even if you are terrified of him at first. He is a very harmless man apart from the time he is at duty.

Presently he started talking when Jordan was comfortably seated in front of him. Capt. cleared his throat "I am very much privileged to have you in my department Mr Kyle"

"with pleasure, sir" Jordan answered. Capt smiled a little and said

"Okay Mr Kyle i am going to brief you on your case, You can start working on it as soon as possible if you can. it is an option Mr Kyle because this case was officially closed by the FBI. I just wanted to look into it" the captain said.

"Sir if you don't mind me asking? is this case of any concern to you"

"Maybe it is" the captain replied cryptically. "look, It just looked suspicious to me that they would just close the case like that considering the FBI's nosy higher officials attitude"

Jordan nodded his head with a slight smile, Capt James smiled back at him and continued

"alright this case was an explosion most probably arson. FBI closed this case as gas leakage and i have enough experience to understand that it was deliberate."

"The explosion took place at ranger road. the victims were a family of three people and were known as the Jones" As i was saying this was deliberately done and all evidence point to the fact that the gas line was cut which was the cause of the explosion"

''What makes this case more suspicious is the absence of a third body. The forensic department could only find the remains of two bodies which means the Jones's kid, Eva, is missing or apparently kidnapped'' Capt James paused and and said "that's all the information i have about this case'' Jordan pondered over what he just heard and said,

''I will try my best sir'' Jordan replied saluted with a stiff salute, collected all the evidence bag and turned around to leave,

''Um, Mr Kyle?, as i said this case is just something i wanted to figure out. If you get into trouble i won't ever take the responsibility. you will be the one suffering." Capt James said.

''Gladly sir" Jordan said with a small cocky voice, turned around and slammed the door on his way out.
