Harry Potter, fifth year and Golden boy, ran through the hallways of Hogwarts to get to his Potions class. He cursed under his breath as he had slept in 10 minutes late. Out of breath he finally reached the classroom and braced himself for the scolding he would receive from the least liked Professor Severus Snape.
"Well, well. Looks like our star celebrity finally decided to show up to class." Professor Snape drawled with a scowl on his pale and pointy face. The class consisting of the rest of Gryffindor and Slytherin was already seated and gawking at Harry, although he was late more often than not to his classes. "M'sorry. I overslept, Professor" Harry murmured as he sat down next to his best friend Ronald Weasley. The professor just rolled his eyes and resumed the lesson. "Now that everyone is here we shall start the lesson. Does anyone know what a de-aging potion is?". A hand shot up that belonged to Harry's other best friend Hermione Granger who was often referred to as the smartest witch of her age due to her high levels of intelligence. When called on, she said "A de-aging potion is a potion that when consumed will de-age a person depending on how many pints are consumed. It will often last until a potion is drunk or brewed to reverse the potion " The professor nodded and continued "Today you will be working with a partner to brew a de-aging potion and testing it on an adult ferret", he summoned a piece of paper and called out the partnerships. Finally, he called out "Potter, Malfoy. You will be working on the potion together and I ask that Mr. Potter doesn't attempt to kill Mr. Malfoy during class". Harry groaned as he looked over at the blonde, grey-eyed boy who was sitting across the room from him to whom he referred to as a foe( although he found himself constantly stalking the boy using the Marauder's Map when they weren't together but he would obviously never admit to it). Draco Malfoy did not look too happy either as he sat in the seat that Ron was sitting in but had moved to work with Blaise Zabini. The two boys glared at each other, an obvious tension building between them. It wasn't the first time they worked together in class, it was as if their professors had a fascination with pairing them up.
However, Draco Malfoy had a secret. A deep secret that only his mother Narcissa Malfoy and his two best friends Blaise and Pansy knew about. Even from their first encounter in 1st year, Draco was unmistakably obsessed and in love with Harry Potter. Obviously, Harry disliked him because he heard of Draco's bullying tendencies and Draco partially truly hated himself for this. Not to mention, Harry refused Draco's friendship when they first met as well. So, stupidly and ignorantly he decided to hide his feelings under his snark and arrogant nature. He couldn't get close to Potter in a friendship so why not in an adversary? So here they were, 4 years later and Malfoy was still being a complete arse. Draco had already mastered the art of not becoming flustered and mesmerized whenever Potter was around and instead insulted and berated him, much to his emotional torture. During their fights, it took Draco his all to not to tackle to the bloke and snog him until he couldn't breathe. Much to Draco's utter depression, his father, Lucius Malfoy, hated Harry Potter. If he heard about his hopeless romance with potter, he knew he would face the backlash from him, and the thought of that made Draco want to scream. His mother was the only person who was understanding of his unrequited love with Harry and listened carefully when Draco would ramble hours and hours on end about Harry.
Once cauldrons were taken out and the ingredients were found, Draco peers over at Harry who seemed to be in deep thought. The blonde snaps his fingers with such sass "Potter, stop daydreaming and pay attention. I'm not going to risk getting a bad grade because of your lazy and stupid arse." Harry glares at Draco once more, emerald eyes colliding with grey. Finally, after almost a minute of just looking at each other, Harry shakes his head in annoyance and opens his textbook.
They spend the rest of the class in awkward silence, with the occasional grunt from Harry and scoff from Draco. When the blonde knew Harry wasn't watching him he cautiously stares at him from the corner of his eye. The brunette had his tongue peeking out from the corner of his mouth in concentration while he was having difficulty cutting up tree roots and he was very sweaty from the heat of the boiling cauldron. He looked extremely hot like this and Draco almost let out a whimper. Suddenly, Harry slammed the tree root in frustration on the table making Draco flinch and murmured something incoherently under his breath. He abruptly stands up and leaves, just like that. Probably to the loo, Draco reassured him.
