Chapter 9 Family Rescue

Inez POV

My phone ringing pulls me out of my noon nap. I rub my eyes and grab it off the coffee table, looking who's calling me. Luke.

"Hey Luke." I say sitting up.

"Hey. Was somebody asleep?" he asks. I roll my eyes and stretch.

"Yeah, thanks alot. Whats up?" I ask.

"I just wanted to know if you and Nikki want to hang out today." he says. I look at the clock, 2:45. 

"Yeah but she's sleeping right now." I say. 

"What? Why?" he asks.

"She works at 2:30am and gets home at 6am. But I can call her." I say. 

"Okay, send me a text where you wanna meet." he says.

"Alright, see you than." and I hang up. Leave it to him to disturb me. I've been getting along with him alot over the years and I love him as a brother. I stand up and stumble to the kitchen, grab some juice and walk back to the living room. I dial Nikki's number and wait for her to pick up.

"Hi sis." she says.

"You aren't asleep?" I ask.

"No, I got the week off." she says. Lucky.

"Nice, Luke just called. He wants to hang out today." I say.

"Okay, I got some time. Lets meet at Silver River." she says.

"Right, yeah. I'll meet you outside in 5." I say.

"Okay." she hangs up. I walk upstairs and change, than I leave the house. The kids are at school and Theo's at work. I see Nikki sitting on her front steps waiting.

"Hey little sis." I say walking over to her and giving her a big hug. 

"Hi, where you sleeping?" she asks. "You look like it."

"Yes, I was but whatever." I say and we start to make our way to Silver River. "So, have you heard from dad?"

"Yeah, I'm going to his place for tea on......Sunday." she says. Nikki does not drink coffee, which might help her with her work hours but whatever. She's always liked tea, her favorites are black cherry and peppermint. I don't know why. Black Cherry tastes like shit. Anyway, back to us talking.

"Okay, listen. Ryan and Alex showed up on my doorstep a few days ago." I say. She gives me a confused  look.

"What did they want?" she asks. I smile and look down.

"They walked in they said: Mom's cheating on dad with uncle Eric!" I say making her stop.

"What?!" she says making me laugh.

"Yeah, they saw you naked in his bed. But I explained to them what was going on. Your welcome." I say. She sighs and nods.

"Alright, lets get to the River before Luke gets mad." she says. The thought of Luke mad just brings me back to his 'punishment' at the mansion. I shake the thought away. We see him sitting on the fallen over tree, looking at the river. 

"Hi Luke." we both say approaching him. He smiles and gives us hugs. He's 37 and become alot more mature. He still acts abit weird around us but we've gotten used to it. "How's Abby?" I ask. Abby is his 11 year old daughter.

"She's good, doing really good in school. How's.....Josh." he asks looking away. Knowing that Josh is his child makes our brother-sister relationship kinda wobbly.

"He's great." I say looking down. And awkward silence falls between us until Nikki breaks it.

"So, what should we do?" she asks. Luke thinks for a second. 

"We could go....." than a howl stops him. A familiar howl. Ryan's! Nikki shifts and sprints off. We shift and chase her but she's going way to fast. After running a few minutes we come upon a fight between a male and Ryan. Nikki breaks the two apart but gets bitten in her ear leaving a hole.

"Thats enough!" she yells at the top of her lungs hurting my ears. Loud mouth. "The hell is going on!" I gasp, she never swears in front of her kids. Ever. Its her rule, no swearing and if they'll get punished.

"He....he went after Alex! He tried to touch her!" Ryan yells with blood dripping from his snout. The male's ears go back and he kneels at Nikki towering over him.

"I'm sorry ma'am. I promise, it'll never happen again." he says. 

"Good, now get lost before I get Alpha." and with that he runs away. "Inny, you know the best part about being Luna?" 

"What?" I ask sitting down. 

"I can boss everybody around." she says. I roll my eyes as she walks over to Ryan. "You okay? Did he hurt you." she asks cleaning the blood from his face. Yes, she licked it off.

"Yeah mom, I'm fine. Can I go home?" he asks. She looks at Luke and I than back to him. 

"I'm taking you home. Inny, sorry." she says but I shake my head.

"Its fine. I'll get rid of Luke and head home myself." I say. She nods and leaves with Ryan right behind her. 

"Can't I come to your house?" he asks. I roll my eyes and nod. 

"Okay, lets go." I say. We start back for my house. Now I'm stuck with him.

Yay! I don't really know what to say about this chapter. I hope it was good. Oh, I forgot to say that when they're in wolf form they don't talk with they're mouths but through they're minds. Like Twilight!
