Chapter 3

The next morning I wake up with a sense of happiness. I admitted defeat and finally decided to live with the fact I'm stuck here until college. I came to the conclusion that wallowing in self pity is not the way to go and have decided to try to live my life properly.

I weighed down my options and basically I could moan and groan and forget about my senior year after its over or I could have a kickass last year in high school and go out with a bang. Well maybe not a bang.. but I'll try to make some friends.

So here I am, standing outside the door of the loud, hectic kitchen on a 'not so normal' Monday morning with my school bag in hand. I gulp down my fear and step bravely into the crowded room. Nadia gives me a bright smile which I return cheekily.

I grab a few slices of toast and lean against the wall, observing the chaos. There are kids of all ages sprinting around the room hastily. I assume this is a daily occurrence in this place from the relaxed expression on Nadias face. I don't know how she does it without almost murdering someone.

"Jade dear, you, Serena, Alex and James should probably start walking now, your lunches are in your bag. Have a good day," Nadia tells a young girl of about ten and kisses her head. I refrain the urge to 'awh' as it would be slightly weird.

"Ellie! Stop harassing Rory and Rory, stand up for yourself! James you should be gone!" Nadia demands with finality in her tone. So that's how she does it..

Suddenly my thoughts are interrupted when my toast is pulled out of my innocent hands. I look up angrily at the culprit, I should have known.

"Hey! That's mine yo- you-ugh!" I exclaim putting my hands angrily across my chest.

"You'll get over it." Jace shrugs and walks away, a blank expression on his face. That guy will be the death of me, and I haven't even known him for twelve hours.

Ten minutes later the kitchen has died down and most of the younger children have disappeared.

"Hi Peyton, I just have to bring the tots to pre-school, you're getting a lift with Jayden and Ali I think... you'll work it out." the woman blurts out and rushes out of the house hastily, two children attached to her hands and one sitting on her back.

As soon as she walks out of the house, five teenagers walk down the stairs. I gulp and start to feel slightly intimidated but I quickly push this feeling away and stand up taller.

"Oh hey, look it's the new girl." one exclaims and the others give me looks of interest.

There are two girls and three lads. They all look in and around my age except for one boy who looks to be around fourteen or fifteen.

"What's your name babe?" an attractive guy winks, pushing his blond hair out of his eyes while walking towards me.

"Oi stop harassing the girl Jayden." a blonde girl rolls her eyes and pushes him out of the way.

"I'm Alison Ellison, call me Ali. And that idiot over there is my twin brother Jayden Ellison. Just ignore him, he flirts with just about anything that walks. Don't be scared of rejecting him, he's used to it." the blonde rambles and I chuckle slightly.

"Spare one of my precious feelings dear sister." Jayden exclaims dramatically placing his hand over his 'wounded' heart.

"I think you're riding with us. Let's go!" Ali says cheerfully, ignoring her brother.

I unconsciously decide to stick it out with these two for today just because I'm terrible at learning names and they already seem relatively friendly.
