The school bell malfunctioned today, much to the relief of everyone. Who knew a single musical tone could be such a pain in the ass for everybody. Emily shut her locker door, shuffling through her books. She turned around to a tap she felt on her shoulder, only to see a familiar face, Chelsea. "Hey, you studied for the Maths test today?" She asked. Emily already knew that Chelsea didn't study last night. Chelsea never studies, it's a bad habit of hers. Chelsea's one of the lucky few who got unbelievably gorgeous from puberty. She uses her looks to "magically" get an A from professors.

They became friends during freshmen year. Chelsea always sat beside Emily to cheat off of her work. Emily of course knew about this, she just never really had the guts to say anything. The cheating soon became chatting, chatting to befriending and they've been friends ever since.

"Of course, I need that A more badly than ever this year." Emily replied. Emily's the star player of the softball team,
She's been struggling with geometry and had to pick up her grades or else she wouldn't be allowed to play for the final championships this year. They've won the previous two thanks to her.

After a few exchanged words, more familiar faces started to emerge from the crowd of students. Michele, Kelly, Vincy then Candy all emerged through the crowd, pushing through the students. "Hey!" Vincy started the conversation. "Did you hear about prom? They say it's superhero themed!" Vincy excitedly stated. Vincy's been excited about prom ever since Dylan, Vincy's new boyfriend, prom-posed to her . They've been planning their looks together, damn, even practicing slow dancing together.

"Prom's still another 3 months from now....." Kelly pointed out. She was annoyed at Vincy bringing up prom. She was still upset about Josh breaking up with her last month. They were together for a full year and promised each other to go to prom together. That of course, wasn't the case. Josh had fallen for the foreign exchange student Melissa, who Josh thought was exotic, as she was from Brazil.

"I honestly just wanna go for the free food." Michele joked while everyone chuckled. No one had asked Michele yet though she plans on going solo. It is ironic for her to not go with someone as Michele has a long, long reputation with boys. Moving on from one boy to the next. She always promised everyone that it'll be different, but it always ends the same way, a breakup after a short, experimental fling.

"Same! But don't forget Tyler!" Candy exclaimed as she and Michele high-five'd. Candy's the mom of the group. The only responsible one. She gets good grades, has a great boyfriend (Tyler) who treats her well, extremely nice to everyone and, when she's not busy volunteering at the animal shelter, works as a barista on weekends. She's perfect, a little too perfect, to the point where it's annoying and everyone secretly hates how.....well, picture perfect she is.

Then, just as Emily thought it was gonna be another normal boring day, she notices a new fresh face walk through the crowd. She could tell she was new as Emily memorized every single face in school out of boredom after many years of walking back and forth, class to class through the halls.

Her long, brown hair reflected off the sunlight and her eyes glittered with a new shade of blue that Emily's never seen before. The sound of Emily's friends chattering, the squeaks of sneakers across the floor and the loud mumbling of the crowded hallway soon faded out of Emily's range of hearing. Emily's always interested in the new students, but she was never this focused. It made it even more obvious to Emily she was new when she struggled to open her locker.

Her focus on the new girl was interrupted by Michele snapping her out of her daze and back to the real world. The sounds of mumbling in the hallways came back, the calling of teachers to the classrooms and the chatter of the group came back to Emily's hearing. "Hello? Hello?! Are you still with us, Emily?" A confused Vincy asked her.
"Hm? What?" Emily asked in a state of confusion. She had zoned out of the conversation completely for 30 seconds. You can miss out on a lot of things in just 30 seconds, especially during a conversation with them.

"Oh.my.god," an annoyed Kelly exclaimed, "I said, how's the softball team doing in training?" "Oh, yeah they're doing great! I really think we can bring home the trophy for the third time this year!" A still slightly distracted Emily said. "Go Bears!" Candy yelled in school spirit as she raised her fist up high in the air.

"Alright, people! Let's go! Class is starting!" Mr.Todd called on the students. The girls' different schedules forced them to separate for the day. Kelly in Drama, Vincy in Music, Michele in History, Candy in Art, and Chelsea and Emily in Maths. As they all split up, Emily looked back only to find the mystery new girl had gone from her locker. Emily looked around the hallways but to no avail, the girl had dissolved into the crowd and disappeared out of Emily's sight.
