"Jish?" Josh woke up at the sound of his name. He looked at his little sister who was standing outside his room door. He looked at his phone "Abby it's 2 in the morning why are you awake?" She pointed to his window "It's Tyler"

His window pointed to the house next door, Tyler's house. Tyler left a lamp on, something about being scared of shadows and stuff, but the light was off . Josh turned back to Abby "he's in the middle of the street, I think he is crying, big brother"

Josh ran outside as fast as he can. He was only wearing shorts even thought it's the middle of winter, but he didnt care. He put on a winter coat, and that's it. No shoes, no shirt, no pants. He wanted to get to his friend as soon as possible.

"Tyler!" He cried. Tyler looked up at him. He was wearing nothing but a shirt and pajama pants. His skin was nearly as pale as the snow on the ground, his eyes bloodshot red, tears running down his face. His hair was a mess, he was a mess. Josh ran to his side and hugged him "Are you ok?" Josh asked, quickly realizing that if he was he wouldn't be out there "I mean-" Tyler burried his head in Josh. Josh quickly took his coat off and wrapped it around Tyler "C'mere, let's get you inside before you freeze out here"

Tyler had taken a hot shower and changed into some of Josh's pajamas. He was smaller than Josh, but Tyler didn't mind wearing oversized stuff. Josh had gone to the kitchen to make some hot cocoa for Tyler.

Abby peeked into Josh's room. Tyler looked so vulnerable. She liked Tyler. Not in a crush way, he was 8 years older than her after all. She liked him in a way where she would want to get close to him, but he was always hanging out with Josh and, well, older kids. Why would a 17-year-old want to be friends with a 9-year-old? She peeked down from the stair and into the kitchen at Josh. He was the kindest person she had ever met, and she was proud to be his little sister.

The only thing she wanted was to be friends with Tyler now. He just looked so nice, and she had more in common with him than anyone knew. She carefully tip-toed back towards Josh's room. Tyler was still sitting in the same position he was outside. Hugging his legs, head buried in his knees. "Um, Tyla?" Tyler's head moved just enough for her to be able to see his eyes. He said nothing "U-Um, I just wanted to know if you're okay?" She looked down. Tyler smiled "I'm fine, thanks for caring enough to ask" Abby smiled.

Josh saw Abby in the doorway looking down. He knew his sister, and he knew Tyler. In a way, they were similar. He had made a hot cocoa for Abby, knowing how much she liked it "Hey princess Abby" he said and kissed his little sisters head "Hi Jish" she said softly. He handed her a cup of hot cocoa and walked inside his room. He sat on his bed next to Tyler and handed him his cup. He then looked back at Abby, who was shyly standing in his doorway, half of her face covered by the wall "Come on in, don't just stand there" he said. Abby shyly walked into her brothers room and sat in the bed next to Josh. Josh looked at Tyler and Abby. They were the cutest humans he had ever seen.

Once they both finished their hot cocoa, Josh could tell Tyler was in need of sleep. He told Abby to stay home while he dropped Tyler off. Tyler hesitated first, his mom wasn't home and his siblings were asleep. After a while, his tiredness made him give in. Josh walked back home to find Abby laying in his bed, asleep. He picked her up and took her to her room, which she shared with their sister, Ashley. But before Josh put her down on her bed she woke up. She said good night to Josh and curled up in Ashley's bed instead of her own. Without waking up, Ashley wrapped her arm around her sister like it was normal. Josh walked back to his room. The scent of Tyler was still there, hanging in the air. He couldn't stop thinking about his friend, and he didn't know why.
