CHAPTER 1

CHAPTER1: SHIFTING

DEMENTIA'S P.O.V

I was walking home from work. I wonder if Troy will be there? Or my mom? AHHH! There's this pain shooting through me. I dropped down to my knees and cried out in pain. It was the worse pain i've ever felt. THen it was over. I looked down to see two big black...paws? WTF? I'm a wolf? Cool, weird, creepy, an awesome all at the same time. I've always believed in werewolfs and vampires but seriously? I am one? I realized i was a giat wolf standing in the midle of the road. I went into the woods. Good thing we lived close to the woods. Actually, the road is surrounded by woods. I walked around in the woods.

I can't go home. But wait, that means i can't go back to my stupid drunck of a mother or abusive boyfriend. I'm free? At least i'll have time for my wounds to heal. Troy, my boyfriend, has stabbed me, punched me, kicked me, and has threw me into walls. I'm too scared of him to do anything. One time... he almost killed me. I started walking through the forrest. I jumped at every little noise. I don't know where to go. Hmmm. I decided to just run and fell the wind in my black fur. I ran and ran. Finally, i came to this creek. I drank some water and looked at my reflection. I looked at myself. I was a beautiful black wolf. I looked strong and brave, when i was really weak and scared. I had a scar on my shoulder and face. On my face, it was a cut across my cheek from where i was thrown into my window and my cheek got cut on the glass. My shoulder one is from where Troy... cut me. He... had a knife on day and he cut me from my shoulder all the way down to my elbow.

My eyes were the only thing about me that i liked. They were a dark emerald green. In human form, i'm very pale, i have regular long straight pitch black hair, and i'm short. I decided to just run. I ran for hours and when i stopped, i stopped at this creek to get water and sleep for the night. I curled up in wolf form and fell asleep. I dreamed of my brother, the one who ran away 2 years ago...

JACK'S P.O.V

I was protrolling when i caught a scent. It was of another werewolf. I growled. This is my pack's territory, a rogue or visitor is supposed to check in if they come on our land. I followed the scent to down by the creek. I don't know why that scent smells some what familiar. I followed it to this black werewolf. It was a gir. Wow, she looked alot like my wolf, we coud be twins! This is a big girl wolf. She's almost as big as me! I decided to hide until she wakes up. I stayed there and fell asleep. I woke up the next morning as saw that the she wolf was drinking some water. I tried to sneak up on her but she whipped around and looked scared to death. I looked into her eyes. They were a dark emerald green. When we locked eyes, she didn't look afraid anymore. What? Everyone is always afraid of me after i lock eyes with them. I don't know why, they say it's cause of the fierceness in them,

I growled at her. I stalked forward and thought to her,"Who are you?" She said,"I'm...Demi." She reminds me of someone, but who?

DEMENTIA'S P.O.V

I heard someone approaching and i just whipped around out of instinct. I looked into very bright green eyes. I knew who it was in that instant. I wasn't afraid anymore. It was my brother Jack. I just knew it. His scent was the same, his eyes, but he was different. He didn't reconize me. He growled and stalked forward. He thought to mme,"Who are you?" I didn't know how to do this so i just tried to think to him,"I'm...Demi." I used my nick name so maybe he would remember. He came up with the nick name. He said,"What are you doing here? Why didn't you check with the Alpha when you came onto our territory?"

I was confused now. I thought back,"Um... I don't know much about this stuff, i just shifted yesterday." His eyes widened and he thought,"Wait, so your a new werewolf? Well, didn't anyone explain anything to you?" I shook my big wolf head and thought,"All i have is a drunk for a mother, i don't have a father." Ya, my father left after i was born. He was just staring at me. He thought,"Follow me, i will take you to my father, the Alpha." If i'm correct and this is my brother Jack, then his father, if he is his real father would be mine too.

We walked all through this little town. Everyone stared at us. I just now realized that Jack, in his wolf form, looked exactly like me. Big and black. I was almost as big as him. We walked and everyone was staring at me with curiousity. I kept my head down and my tail in between my legs. Anyone of them could hrt me if they think i'm intruding on their territory. I was scared. We then walked in this mansion. It was so HUGE! Jack shifted back to human form. Hmm, i guess it's not true that your clothes explode then. He looked at me and said,"You don't have to phase back if your uncomftable." I nodded. I just can't believe he forgot me. We use to be so close before he ran away. I guess this is why he ran away. But still, to forget his baby sister? The one who he said he would protect with his life. I remember once when we were kids, i told him when he was old enough to leave home, that he would forget me, and he promised that he would never forget me no matter what. We did out secret handshake that only we could do, but now he's forgotten me.

I looked at him and saw that he still looked the same, except older and more buff, but still the same. It really was him. We came to this big room and he knocked twice. I heard a deep voice say,"Come in." We walked in and there was the Alpha. I could already tell that he was the Alpha bu the way he stood. I also knnew immediantly that he had to be my father. We both had the same eye and hair color. My mother has bright green eyes and blonde hair. Jack looks like mom, he has blonde hair and her eyes. I look like a mini dad. He looked over me and come closer. I shrunk back. It was a habit. The only person who i don't and will never fear is my brother. Even if he hit me, i just couldn't fear him.

The Alpha came a little closer and said,"Shh, i won't hurt you." He gently patted my head. It made me feel a little better. JAck had a look of frustration on his face. he said,"Father, it's not fair! It seems like she fears everyone but me." Father looked at him and said with shock in his voice,"She doesn't fear you? BUt everyone but me fear you. Even my beta fears you. Jack said,"Ya, watch." He came over to me and pretended to hit me. But i knew him two well, he pretends to hit you but stops right in front of your face. I didn't even blink. He sighed in frustration and stormed out. The Alpha came back over to me and i shrunck down some. He said,"Would you mind shifting back?" I cocked my head to the side and gave him a confused look.

He said,"Don't you know how to shift back?" I shook my head and he said,"It's easy, you just calm down and clear your mind." I did that and shifting back was painless. He gasped when i changed back. I knew what he saw, a little him. I opened my eyes and stood up. He was looking me dead in the yes and said,"Dementia, is that you?" I nodded once and he grabbed me up in a hug. I relaxed some. His embrace felt nice, safe. He said,"I'm your father. We have alot to talk about." I nodded.

So we talked. He told me about why he left. He left cause mom threatened him, and he found his true mate later after he left. He told me alot . I told him everything. From the day Jack left to now. And i mean i told him EVERYTHING. ABout Troy, mom, and why i flinch if a guy comes near, and that i can't be afraid of Troy, i just can't bring myself to fear him. He was pissed that he didn't come and rescue me. He was literally throwing things. He finally calmed down after he seen how scared i was. He hugged me and said,"My baby girl, shhh, don't be scared, i won't let anyone hurt you again, and if they do, i will rip their throats out." He rocked me back and forth. He said,"It's almost lunch time, let's go get some food, you must be starving. I will introduce you to the whole pack. and when Jack ses you, he's going to flip. He never stops worrying about you. You never left his mind. I can't believe your own brother didn't reconize you!"

I nodded and we walked to the dining room where the whole town, the whole pack was waiting for there Alpha to arrive so they could all eat. We talked on the way there. I told him my favorite colors, things i would love to do and when he asked what kind of music i liked. I told him i had no idea. I didn't listen to music. I can't remember the last time i heard a song on the radio, or at all. He frowned at that and said he would get Jack to fix that.

When we came to the door that would take us to the room, i hid behind my father. I have a father. that thought made me a little happy. We walked in, you couldn't see me because i was so small and hiding behind my big dad. He said,"ATTENITION! I WOULD LIKE TO INTRIDUCE YOU ALL TO THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR PACK!" I peeked out and saw that Jack was bored looking. "I'M GLAD TO HAVE THIS MEMBER WHERE SHE BELONGS. HERE!" He stepped to the side and i heard gasps. i hid behind my bangs. "OUR NEW PACK MEMBER IS MY DAUGHTER DEMENTIA!" It was wuiet. I looked through my bangs some to seee that Jack was staring at me. Tears were in his eyes. He got up and everyone watched him with shocked eyes. Even me, he never cried. I hadn't see him cry, ever.

He came over to me and picked me up and a big bear hug. He said,"Welcome home sissy."
