Chapter 2 (TBC)
"Of course it would be sprained." I muttered. I hadn't talked to Roan since about an hour ago when I caught him gaping at me after I sang, I mean I can't be that bad can I?
We were walking out of the ER when we heard a scream. Though it was muffled, Roan and I still heard it.
"Stay here," he said pointing to me "I'll see what's going on."
I raised my brows as he walked away. "Whatever Mr. Hero" I muttered following him.
I heard another scream and I picked up speed. When I got to the abandoned alleyway I saw that Roan had a man in a headlock. The man seemed to be holding a purse and a knife.
Wait a knife?!
"Roan!" I yelled but it was too late, the man had stabbed Roan in the thigh and ran away.
I muttered some curses, "Leave it to the women to do the dirty work" I shook my head and took off after the man.
Once I had caught up to him I tackled him to the ground despite my sprained wrist. He managed to grab my wrist and flip me off of him and I landed in a crouch wincing slightly. He smiled and ran at me trying to grab my wrist in the process. He failed as I predicted his move and dodged, only to fall to the ground when he ran into a lamp post.
"Oh my 'gawd' dude!" I shouted clutching my sides from laughing. "Did you seriously just run into a lamp post?" I giggled.
He glared at me and pounced. I fell back with an 'oof' and cracked my head on the pavement, my vision blurring slightly. He got in my face with a lethal expression, I attempted to spit in his face but it just landed on my forehead.
I scrunched my face up in disgust. Ew. I crossed my eyes looking at the spit. The guy just shook his head and got up he grabbed the purse and tried walking away. I walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.
He looked back at me. "Hey, can I have that?" I asked pointing to the purse.
He shook his head and turned towards me.
"And what are you going to do about that little girl?"
My left eye twitched, nobody calls me little. Ever. My fists clenched and I ignored the sharp pain in my left wrist.
I stepped back smiled and tried to kick him in the stomach so I could at least grab the bag and run.
I saw that my plans had failed as he grabbed my ankle and twisted it causing me to turn away from him. I stood there stunned for a moment before I smirked. I hopped catching him off guard as I pulled my leg back and kicked him in the face.
I cringed hearing a crack as he grabbed his face and fell to the ground howling in pain. Well, that'll teach him to call me little. I walked over to him and whispered in his ear.
"Nobody calls me 'little'." I said picking up the purse and walking back to the alley.
"Toodles!" I said evilly waving goodbye.
As I walked back to the alleyway I saw Roan tying his shirt around the girl's body. It was then that I froze.
"Tanya?" I asked stunned.
She looked at me and smirked. "Hey there Teeto." she muttered weakly.
I remember why she gave me that nickname. When I was younger we used to hang out all the time. I told her that one day I wanted to get a lizard and name it Teeter Totter. Yeah I had a slight baby lisp, so 'teeter came out as 'teeto'. After that Tanya started to call me Teeto. I smiled at the memory.
