I arrived at the park around 4:10. Ava was sitting there at a bench reading a book. She brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes as I walked to her. She didn't look up until I sat down next to her.
"You're late," she said.
" Sorry," I said," it was hard to get out of my house."
" Yeah I know what that's like," she said," what do you want to study? Or were you thinking that we were just going to talk?"
I wondered what made her say that, then realized that I forgot an extremly important thing when it comes to studying- my textbook. I felt my face going red as I realized this. How could I forgotten something like that for a study session?
"Um... The Spanish test is oral, so I figured we could just use your book" I said.
" But I didn't bring my Spanish book because I figured we'd be doing math or English." She said.
" Yeah, bad communicating on my part." I said.
" Either that or you're trying to cover up the fact that you forgot your textbook."
" Yep, either or."
That made her laugh and I don't think I ever felt prouder of anything else before.
" It's a good thing I brought extra paper. Otherwise you wouldn't get anything done at all," She pulled some out of her folder and handed it to me.
I took it and said", I brought my pencil at least." I took it out and we began.
