Fisher walked out of the Art class with furrowed brows. He could have sworn that Poppy was behind him when he had started walking. He had even spoken to her thinking that she was there listening. Why didn't she show up to class?

Liam touched his shoulder. "Did you do something to Poppy?"

"Why would I do something to her?" Fisher shook his head.

Liam squinted at him. "I do not like your attitude, man."

Fisher glared at Liam.

"See? That's that look you give everyone. That holier-than-thou look. And she thinks it's cute."

Fisher furrowed his brows. "Poppy thinks what?"

"Where's Poppy?"

"I don't know. We spoke and then she disappeared into thin air. I could've sworn she was walking with me to class."

"Well, she isn't here, is she?"

Fisher tried not to glare at him again.

"I see right through you, Fisher. Just like everyone else. You think you're better than everyone else because you stay out of trouble and force a smile on your face."

"You're the one who thinks he's better than everyone else."

"At least I know that. And people don't mind me. But they hate you and Poppy loves you, for some stupid reason, when you treat her like a legless puppy."

Fisher put his hand on his head then he pointed at Liam. "Oh my goodness- you treat her like she's stupid-"

"Because she is! If she likes you, then she has to be."

Fisher stood embarrassed and confused.

Mason looked at Sadie who stood my the wall listening to them. He snorted and shook his head then he walked away from him.

"Harsh much," Sadie stood with a smirk on her cheek.

"What do you want Sadie?" Fisher shook his head and stared at the floor.

"I don't know. I like drama and if you're the reason why 'Overalls' was crying today, I'd like to know what happened-"

"She was crying?" Fisher looked at Sadie.

"A real' ugly cry."

"I don't know what I did to hurt her."

"Wanna talk about it?" Sadie raised a brow and smiled.

"Not with you."

Her smile dipped. "That's fine. You don't have any friends anyway. You made the only one you had cry."

Fisher frowned. He hesitated for a bit. He needed someone to spill his guts on. He barely ever complained because he never had a reason to. Now be did. "Fine."

"Fine what?"

"I'll tell you what happened but it has to stay between us."

"Deal. I don't want anyone knowing we talk anyway."

"We're standing in the middle of the hallway. I think a few people have noticed us talking."

"Then where do you suggest we go?"

***
"So, Mrs. Taylor just leaves her classroom open?" Sadie looked around as she sat down. "Mason and I can definitely make out in here-"

"No. This is a one time thing. I can get into a lot of trouble if she knew I told people about this."

"I was kidding," Sadie smiled. "I wouldn't do that to you."

"Sure you won't," Fisher raised his brows up and down then rolled his eyes.

"So, about Poppy. Were you two dating? Did you dump her?"

"No," Fisher scornfully objected. "Never."

"So, you don't like her."

"No," Fisher looked at his hands and shrugged. "I mean, not like that."

"Why? Is it because she's ugly?" Sadie grinned.

Fisher stared at the corner of the room. "She's not ugly."

"So, you think she's pretty?"

"I think she's okay."

"I don't think you're being honest."

Fisher turned to Sadie. "Why would you think I wasn't being honest?"

"Well, for starters, you had a slight smile when I asked if you thought she was pretty. Not to mention you staring at the wall."

Fisher shook his head. "Okay. Maybe I do think she's a little cute. But come on. Even you can see how untidy she is. Who wipes paint on her clothes?"

"An artist," Sadie shrugged.

"Aren't you the same person who makes fun of her for doing that?"

"I do it to annoy her. Not because I actually care about her doing it. It just looks weird to everyone. That's it. It doesn't bother anyone, but you... Some people actually think it's fashionable," Sadie shrugged knowing deep down she wished she could wear painted overalls. They drew attention.

Fisher turned away. "So, you don't hate her?"

"Do you?"

"No. I actually think she's sweet. She's just trying really hard to get people to like her. She acts like she doesn't care when it's all she cares about."

Sadie looked down. "Well, maybe she needs to be more like us."

"Us?" Fisher chuckled. "In what sense are we alike?"

"We don't care what people think about us."

"I...d-," Fisher squinted,"Wait. Why are you so interested in Poppy?"

Sadie looked at Fisher. "Because my boyfriend is."
