Chapter 69

Before I could get out of the car and head in the house, Italia and my mother were at the door of my car knocking on the window asking me what happened with Vince and me.   I rolled the window down and asked them to back up so I could get out and talk to them.

“Nikki, Vincent called me and told me that you were coming here to call off the wedding.”

“He’s right there will be no wedding, I overheard him talking to Faatimah this morning at my house, and then he went to meet her at her hotel.  He told her to stop talking and then he asked her how she got his number.  I don’t know what she said, but he said he didn’t care what his brother told her, but he was getting married today.  Then he said if Nikki finds out I have been keeping in contact with you since that night at my parent’s house it’s not going to go over so well.”

“I was so mad, then they continue talking and again I can’t hear what she is saying to him then he says to her ‘just because we have had a few phone calls, a couple of dinners when you’ve come to town, does not mean that we are getting back together.  I still love Nikki she is going to be my wife and I want to make that clear to you.’ How could he stand there and say he loved me when he was planning to go there with her.”

“I wanted to open that door and slap him, but I just stood there and then I heard him tell her that he didn’t have time to come talk to her, but whatever it was she said to him he asked where was she and her suite number and he told her he would be there in 15 min and that’s when I decided to follow him.  When I got there I followed him upstairs and stopped outside of the door and listened to what they were saying.”

“He told her that their relationship was a very long time ago and he is getting ready to marry the one woman that he loved with all his heart. She then asked him if he “loved” me so much why he was standing there with her and he said he didn’t know why he was there.  He told her that he thought he was over her, but when she came to your house with his brother he realized that he never really had closure.”

“Then he says he guess you could say that he came because he need to be sure he don’t feel anything for her anymore before he married the woman of his dreams.  At that very moment she said to him that they still have chemistry and instead of fighting it, they should just rekindle their relationship.  She told him she still loved him and she never stopped loving him.  She told him that she was willing to fight for him.  He told her there was nothing for her to fight for.  He told her he didn’t want to hurt me and I didn’t deserve that because I have been through so much and he has been there for me and all he wants to do is be with me the rest of my life.”

“I guess this is when she got desperate and dropped her robe and told him to take a good look at her and tell her if he could seriously look at her and tell her that he wasn’t feeling the need to have her in his bed.  He told her to put her robe back on that it wasn’t love he felt towards her it would only be lust controlling him not love.  He told her he was going to leave and that would be the last time they would speak or see one another again.”
