“Castiel!” a voice called my name. I listened silently as my order were given.

“Castiel, my son. I have a job for you. There is a soul, in Hell. It cannot be there. It needs to be brought back to the world of the living; its time is not yet over in this life. Retrieve him for me. Retrieve Dean Winchester from the place he should not be,” the voice boomed.

“Yes, Father,” I said. I went to my garrison.

“My friends! I have a deed given to me by our father. We must retrieve the soul of Dean Winchester from Hell. He should not be there, he has not fulfilled his life's meaning. Join me, and lay siege to Hell!” I announced, spreading my dark wings wide. Cheers were heard from my comrades, and we descended to the most vile of places.

We reached Hell, immediately met with demons. As I bowled through the disarray, my followers fought around me. I searched for the soul of Dean Winchester. My father had said it was bright. Bright, a soft green, and kind. I only saw one green soul. It was dull, and broken, but I knew this was him. I knew, because it was beautiful, and had a purpose in this otherwise meaningless pit. It was struggling. Not physically; it was an inner battle. So I was here to help; I would raise this man from perdition.

“Dean Winchester,” I whispered, and I felt eyes on me.

“What do you want; are you here to torture me? Because it's not gonna do much; I'm broken,” he said. I felt sympathy for this man; I do not feel that often. I stepped forwards, and he stepped back.

“I am not here to hurt you. I am here to save you, Dean Winchester,” I informed him. He scowled, and I stepped forwards again. He backed up, and I sighed.

“Trust me. Please, I am not going to hurt you,” I said. He looked at me uncertainly, and to prove myself, I turned and killed five demons at once. I turned, and he was sitting down.

“Okay. I believe you. Just... are you gonna get me out? Is that what you mean? Because, I can barely keep standing, let alone crawl outta Hell. And Alistair... he'll come after me. I can't stop him, and when he catches up, he'll break me even more. I don't have the willpower to get myself out of here. I am a broken man,” he said.

“I will help you. That is what I was sent here to do. I am Castiel, and I am an Angel of the Lord.” I said.

“What? Angel of the- like God?!” he said.

“Yes,” I said, and I heard hi laugh a broken laugh. More like a sob than anything. I looked at him, confused.

“This is another hallucination. God doesn't exist. If he did my life wouldn't be such a pile of shit,” he said. I shook my head.

“I am real, and you are needed in the world of the living. Your time is not yet up, Dean Winchester. We have work for you,” I touched his forehead. He gave me a panicked and angry look, before falling limp in my arms.
