Depression - Adrienette

At Last

Once I dried myself off with the towel Adrien gave me, I changed into some soft pajamas and curled up on my bed. Adrien had gone downstairs to get me some hot chocolate to drink to help me warm up as I got changed. I faintly heard a knock at the door then Adrien calling through, "Are you dressed?" since he was such a gentleman.

"Yeah," I called back and heard the door open to reveal Adrien holding two cups of hot chocolate as he struggled to open the door with his shoulder. I giggled slightly as I climbed down the ladder to go help him. 

I opened the door for him and heard a quiet, "Thanks," come out of his mouth.

"Anytime, Adrien," I replied, smiling. I climbed up the ladder to my bed and grabbed the two mugs from Adrien. I put them both on a tray that I had next to my bed as Adrien climbed the ladder. 

I patted next to my bed and he hesitantly joined me on my bed. After a few tense moments of silence, Adrien spoke. "So why did you do it?" Adrien asked, trying to catch my eyes. I kept on not looking at him out of shame.

"I-I thought that the one person that I could talk to was ignoring me," I admitted slowly and softly. 

As his eyes widened, Adrien said, "Marinette, I would never do that to you. I will always be there for you." With that, Adrien grabbed my hands. Then he let go with his right hand and put it on the back of his neck as he said, "I have a question. Uh, would you, by any chance, want to, uh..." He trailed off and seemed to be choosing his words carefully.

"W-would I what?" I asked, leaning in a bit.

Adrien finished in a rush, saying, "Would you want to be my girlfriend?" I stopped, my eyes widening and just stared at my crush, the guy I can tell everything to. I couldn't formulate an answer, so I just stared at Adrien. He glanced up and then dropped my hands, saying, "It's okay, I get it."

As Adrien went to stand up, I grabbed his arm. "Y-yes," I replied. "I will." Adrien stopped moving and then turned around and quickly enveloped me in a hug.

"I will never let you go," Adrien whispered in my ear. "That's a promise."

"And I won't let you," I replied. Adrien and I parted and he returned to his spot next to me on the bed.

Adrien and I walked downstairs at the end of the night as I walked him out, holding hands the whole way. When we got to his car, Adrien hugged me and whispered, "I'll text you tonight. talk to you later, Mari."

"Mari?" I asked teasingly.

We parted and Adrien said, "Well, I figured I could have a nickname for you. I can stop if you want."

"No, it's okay. I was just teasing you," I replied and hugged him again. I whispered in his ear, "I'll be waiting." Then we parted and he sat in his car. We waved to each other until we couldn't see the other anymore. Then I walked back inside the bakery with what must have been a lovesick expression because my parents immediately ran up to me.

"Marinette, what happened between you two?" Mom asked, obviously sensing something. 

"Uh, nothing," I replied, averting my gaze and trying to slip past.

Dad blocked my way as he said, "Come on, even I can tell that something is up with you."

Even Dad can tell? I must be off today then. Either that, or I'm very obvious, I thought and let out a small sigh. "Fine. Adrien asked me to be his girlfriend." With that, I fainted.

The next day at school, I told Alya about Adrien and I as the boy himself walked into the classroom. He immediately walked up to me and said, "Morning, Mari."

"Morning, Adrien," I replied and he kissed me on the cheek. He walked up to his seat and I could see Nino sitting there, an excited expression on his face. I looked over at the other side of the room where I could practically see smoke come out of Chloe's ears. I resisted the urge to stick my tongue out at her and thought, I will never let you bully me again, Chloe. With that, class began.
