Alyssa stared out her classroom window, the butterflies in her stomach doing backflips and frontflips and cartwheels and all sorts of tricks that you wouldn't think butterflies could do. But it wasn't nerves that caused the butterflies to be doing gymnastics, oh no. It was excitement. Today was the first pack meeting in a long time. You see, Alyssa was one of the special few in her area that considered her spirit to be that of a wolf. Of course there were other spirits in her pack, foxes and coyotes and the like. Though she herself was a wolf and was proud of it.

She was pulled out of her thoughts when the bell rang and sprang up out of her seat, her grey tail swinging behind her as she practically ran out of the classroom and down the hallway. She pushed her way past kids who she didn't know, and didn't care to know. The only friends she really needed was her pack. As soon as she was out the school doors she full on sprinted towards her car, jumping in and starting it up. Now all she had to do was wait for the rest of her pack so they could all drive off into the sunset. That was what usually happened during pack meets, they met up after school, went to the local grocery store for a snack run, then just drove and drove, they went as far as they could get until their parents started telling them to come back home. Sometimes they would stop near a field or forest and explore, but it was mostly on the road.

Alyssa glanced over when a red tail popped into her car and she grinned at the boy who sat in shotgun. Alex was his name, and he had the spirit of a fox. He grinned right back at her and started speaking.

"I ordered a new tail! It's supposed to be a lot brighter than this one, but you never know until you get it." He chuckled a little and messed with the tail he was wearing now. "Where's everyone else?" He asked, glancing back into the seats behind them. Alyssa just shrugged and rolled down her window sticking her head out and staring at the crowd of students still trying to get on their buses or in their cars. She spotted a couple other members of her pack, one girl and one person of no gender. The girl's name was Kaitlyn, and the other's name was Ace. A coyote and a wolf respectively. Alyssa shouted at them to get their butts over here and they ran towards the car, jumping into the mid-back. Alex immediately started telling them about his order and Alyssa glanced back at them quietly. Only two more left and then they could get the hell out of there.

"Alyssa oh my god," Kaitlyn started, leaning forward as if to get her alpha's attention, "There's this new girl in town that I totally think is like us! She wears a tail and everything. She just moved in near me a couple of days ago, though i haven't seen her in school yet."

"A new therian huh?" Alyssa pursed her lips in thought.

"If she is one, she should join our pack!" Ace piped up, a grin on their face. Alyssa nodded and turned to look at the two in the mid-back just as another person with a tail hopped into the car. This girl's name was Sky, and she was not only a wolf, but a rabbit as well.

"What's this about joining our pack?" She asked softly, climbing all the way back into the seats behind Ace and Kaitlyn. Another hand caught the door just before it was shut and a boy got into the car. This boy was Hunter, another wolf as well as a fox. He shut the door behind him as Kaitlyn told Sky about the new girl. Alyssa had the car moving as soon as Hunter was sitting down.

The pack chattered away, the only one not really talking was Sky who was picking at her tail. Alyssa glanced at Sky through the rear-view mirror and tilted her head a bit.

"You alright Sky?" She asked. The whole car quieted down, most of them staring at Sky who was now looking away, her eyes concentrated out the window. Sky looked as though she was contemplating something for a moment, before looking up at Alyssa and frowning.

"I'm not sure I like the idea of getting another member." She said bluntly. Alyssa sighed softly, she had an idea Sky would say something like that.
