The Cowboy who saved me ( Carl Grimes X Reader )

CHAPTER 1 : My Hero

( Raven's pov )

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the undead moaning I slowly got up and stretched before hunching over and making my way to the edge of the roof I peaked over to see about 25 walkers roaming the streets great a herd I thought as I slowly backed away to stay hidden from their sight so they wouldn't surround the building thus trapping me

Once I was in the middle of the roof I opened my pint size mason jar full of different bird eggs I know it may seem cruel but I need the protein to survive so I cracked a few one by one in a small pan meant for a chicken egg and set it on a piece of metal cooking them with the sun's rays about 10-15 minutes later I ate my breakfast and took a sip of the little water I had left before gathering around all my supplies

I then noticed most of the Walkers from the heard had left seeing my chance I quietly crept down the ladder on the back of the building facing the woods and slipped off into the forest unnoticed where I walked and walked for hours before getting caught in a net suddenly bells began to go off above me

I could hear undead in the distance heading my way as of now , I noticed my knife had fallen and was laying by the trees base

Great I sarcastically thought suddenly 3 walkers came from around a big oak tree right beneath me once noticing  me they tried reaching up to grab me I was just barely above their reach

that's when I heard something walking but it wasn't a Walkers I saw someone or something run behind a tree near by suddenly all three Walker's dropped dead ( really dead ) to the ground I looked up from the undead that were now lying on the ground motionless to see a pale boy who looked roughly my age he had long dark brown hair while he was wearing a semi clean gray / blue flannel with jeans and combat boots I couldn't make out his facial features well because his cowboys hat's over casting shadows

" are you alright he asked looking up at me giving me a chance to see his face fully he was pale with freckles and had a beautiful blue eye the other was covered with a white bandage wrap

" ya umm you know I'm just hanging here " I said with a slight smile trying to lighten up the situation a little in hopes to befriend the cowboy long enough to survive

" not for long I'll help you" he said picking up my knife and handing it to me

" don't worry I'll catch you" he said as I started cutting the  rope with the snap of the rope I began falling towards the hard earth beneath expecting to crash hard on the cold wet ground I was surprisingly caught by the strangers arm I quickly untangled myself from the rope net just in time as a small group of walkers that must of been part of the larger heard I saw earlier came towards me and the cowboy 

" come on cowboy we better start running I yelled as I began to run through the woods with him close behind after a while we saw what looked to be a empty cabin but as we got closer we saw it crawling with Walkers so we just kept running not stopping once until we made it to a road where we hid in a empty RV

" thanks for back there cowboy I said offering him a bottle of water I guess I owe him something for saving me back there

" thanks by the way names Carl ... Carl Grimes what's yours the boy said after taking a drink

" Raven ...Raven Black and your welcome it's the least I owe you for saving me back there I said softly

( Carl's pov )

The heard of walkers began to fill the once empty street the girl know as Raven I just saved stuck a screwdriver in the door latch so it couldn't open from the outside while I shut the curtains so the walkers couldn't see us in here

After a few hours of talking with her I learned that she had no group and that she's been alone for almost as soon as the break out I knew dad wouldn't be to happy but I told her she could stay in Alexandria with me
