A Day Like Any Other - Chapter 1

I had always imagined what it'd be like to live by myself, free from my parents rules and over protectiveness. However, now that I had that freedom I wanted for it to go away. Go back too my easy life where I had a bed, bath, and free food. Now I'm sitting in my truck at a McDonald's drive through buying a biscuit for breakfast which was nowhere near enough for me. I use up the rest of my money on the precious fast food that I'd probably not see for a few months now. I open the wrapper and take a bite of the biscuit as I pull out of the parking lot onto the main road again. I gaze out my window at the dreary town before me. The place I'd chosen to hide in was a small town in Michigan called Mud. The real reason I chose to come here wasn't because it was small and unknown, but purely because I loved the name of it. I hadn't though it'd be as depressing as it is. Its almost always either raining or overcast here, making everything green and wet 24/7. Today was no exception, a soft drizzle was coating the town again as I shoved the last bit of my biscuit in my mouth and made my way down the road past dozens of small houses side by side to each other. After a few rows of houses I finally turn right onto a much more narrow road, if you could even call it that, it was more of a dirt path that was barely wide enough for a car. A few bumpy moments later I pulled into my destination, Mud Highschool. Parking my car far away from the building I let out a long sigh, glancing up at the underwhelming building I'd be spending most of my time at now. The place was as small and lifeless as the actual town itself and looked like it couldn't hold more than 150 students and teachers at one time. I tear my gaze away from the school to look at the time, it was about six in thew morning which was too early, but I didn't have anywhere else to be. I point my mirror at a better angle for me to see myself as I start fidgeting around with my hair, trying to make it look halfway decent for someone who hadn't taken a shower in almost a week. My hair was already enough of a pain when it was clean, when its dirty it's ten times worse! Having long, brown curly hair was probably the worse thing my mom has ever given me. Besides when she gave me a toothbrush for Christmas, but that's beside the point. My dad had given me most of my traits luckily. In addition to my 5'9" height, I also got his button nose along with his hazel eyes. My mom gave me my ghost white skin color which I actually love, even if it means I burn easily. Not to mention I got my mom's slim figure, but also got her small breasts as well. Not being ungrateful, but just a bit more bust would have been nice. I stretch my arms out before reaching over to grab my jacket, my brown curls falling in my face as I do. Sliding the jacket on I timidly open my car's door and hop out of it, quickly locking it behind me. Its still pitch black outside, and I can only see one car parked in the lot besides mine. With a shrug I casually make my way towards the entrance of the school, my hands shoved in the pockets of my jacket. As I grow closer to the school I can hear someone talking loudly, and the volume of the talking grows in volume as I finally reach the entrance doors. I can hear that the person talking now is a woman, and it sounds like she's just behind the doors in front of me which makes me nervous because it sounds like she's pissed about something. Taking a shaky breath, I pull the door open to reveal a rather tall woman with white hair sitting behind a desk yelling about something on her computer. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was hiding as I quietly closed the doors behind me. Once I do, I turn back around and come face to face with the woman from behind the desk. I let out a squeak of surprise, immediately falling backwards. I braced myself to impact with the cold, hard floor but it doesn't come, instead there's a warm sensation behind my back pulling me back up into a standing position. I open my eyes back up to see the woman from behind the desk standing a little further away from me this time, looking at me curiously. I feel my cheeks flush a little under her gaze, adverting my eyes elsewhere so I don't make a fool of myself again."Sorry to give you such a scare, are you alright?" The woman asks, looking me up and down, making me flush even more. I give her a curt little nod before daring to glance at the woman again. When I do, she's still looking at me curiously with her bright blue eyes. She looks like she's in her early 20's, and is a few inches taller than me, but her most striking features are definitely her piercing blue eyes and her straight, snow white hair that's in a type of Bob cut. She must have noticed me looking her over because she gives me a small smile before asking, "Is there anything I can help you with Ms..." She trails off looking at me expectantly. "Moon, uhm Lauren Moon Ms...." I look at her expectantly too which makes a small smirk appear on her face with makes my heart flutter. "I am Ms. Angel, and its very nice to meet you Lauren." She says with a smile, extending her hand out to shake mine. After I shake her hand she turns around and walks back to the desk she was at, motioning me to follow her which I do. At the desk she sits down and starting clicking around and typing things really quickly into her computer before turning around to look at me a few minutes later. "Well, your all good. Everything has been signed and taken care of and luckily you only have one teacher this year." She says with a smile, reaching over to her printer to grab something shed just printed out and handing it to me. "Can't wait to see you in class Lauren." She says with a mischievous grin on her face that sends a small shiver down my spine. Unsure how to respond to her I don't, taking the paper and walking towards the room I'd be spending my whole day in. When I enter to classroom the first thing that catches my attention is that there are only ten desks in the entire classroom which is strange, but I guess classes would be smaller since there are less people in this school. I walk over to them and let out a hearty laugh, seeing the names of the students written on their desks like they're in kindergarten still. After I stop laughing I hear someone clear their throat behind me and turn around to see a large, muscular guy standing there, a grin on his face as he looks at me. "So, your the new meat, eh?" He asked an amused tone to his voice as he continued to observe me from the doorway. I back up against the desk, rather scared until another head pops through the doorway, looking at me curiously. The head belongs to a short girl who's about 6 inches shorter than me. I instantly worry that the guy might try to hurt her, "D-Don't stand too close to him! He's dangerous!" I say panicked, wondering why the girl was running away or getting help. My confusion only grows as she suddenly bursts out laughing, stopping after a few moments to looking at me amused. "Bruno knows better than to mess with me, and if he tried I'd send him packing." She says with a grin glancing at Bruno who throws his hands up innocence. "U-uhm ok......." I say relaxing a little but not much, both of a them actually come in and sit down at their respected seats in the very back next to each other, leaving me awkwardly leaning against a desk. I decide to sit down in the desk with my name on it before I make an even bigger fool of myself. Shortly after, the other 6 students show up and take their seats as well, followed by none other than Ms. Angel. All of the kids are looking at me strangely and at each other like their taking to each other, but they aren't and it makes me squirm not knowing what they're thinking about me. "Lauren, can you come up and introduce yourself please?" Ms. Angel asks me, looking at me expectantly again. I give a small nod before standing up and shuffling to the front of the classroom. I take a deep breath and then say, "Hello, my name is Lauren Moon, I'm 16 years old. I recently moved here, and love to read, and I hope we can be good friends!" I look at everyone nervously because they're all making strange faces when Bruno raises his hand. "Uhm.... yes?" I ask him nervously, shifting between my feet. "What you told us was great and all, but we really only want to know what kinds of werewolf you are."
