S.P.I.L.L.S. K.N.O.W.L.E.D.G.E.

"Sis! Please read me THAT story," My little sister yelled down from her room.

"I'll be up in minute!" I yelled back. I set my book down and sprinted up the stairs. My sisters room was at the end of the hall on the left. My mother and fathers were in the middle and mine was on the right. When I arrived at the doorway, my sister was already in bed, eagerly awaiting a bedtime story.

"Where's the book you want me to read?" I asked, walking into her room and sitting on her bed. She was sitting up and looking at me with pleading eyes

"I don't you read me a story out of a book: I want you tell me the history of our clan," she said with cutest smile and puppy dog eyes. It doesn't help that she has wolf blood in her. I sighed.

"I guess you're old enough. It starts out like this: 935 years ago, scientists started experimenting with animal DNA. Some dude with by the name of Darren Sowen," My sister giggled at me for mispronouncing his name. "decided it would be a good idea to combine human DNA with various types of animals. The expirement was a success, but what happened after the tests was not at all like warm fuzzy bunnies," My sister giggled at the reference. "These people were hated by the public. After all, why could only 1000 people get an animal form? Why are they so special? It wasn't fair in the publics eyes. They tried to rob them, abuse them, kill them. Fortunately, it didn't work. These people saw that they weren't going to be treated fairly, so they signed up for a special program."

"Oh! We're learning about that in school. There was a lot of new technology going toward space exploration at that time. People had to volunteer to test it out though."

I nodded and said, "Yep. Those 1000 people signed up for exploring other inhabitable planets. When the time came about, all of them said goodbye to their supporters and left for planet HD801. According to humans back on Earth, the mission was failure-"

"But we thrived in the new environment. We survived and our ancestor's started their families. Of course, the ability to change to an animal form was lost after many generations but now we were able to revive it after a couple years of testing!"

"That's right! Families were assigned certain animals to be based on the Chinese Zodiac and what type of DNA you had. If you have wolf and rabbit DNA, which ever was strongest or more prominent will decide what you will be. And its the year of the wolf right now!" I said, pumping my fists. My sister looked at me curiously. "Why are you so excited? Its been the year of the wolf before but you've never gotten so excited about it before."

"I got accepted as an apprentice!" I said, my eyes beaming.

"That's SOO COOL!!! When are you leaving?" She asked, her eyes turning into diamonds. "And does that mean when the year of the wolf comes again I get to be a wolf? I will be of age,"

"Yes, you'll be a wolf. I'm leaving in a week. Only one week to hang out with all of you guys before I leave. I'll miss you!!" I said, hugging her.

"I'll miss you too!!! Thanks for the story. Goodnight!"

I kissed her forehead and said, "Goodnight." I turned off the light on the way out and made my way down the stairs. My mom met me half way and whispered in my ear, "Did she take it well?"

"Yes. I disguised it as a story," I whispered back. She stopped at the top of the stairs.

"Good. Now we need to tell your father. He'll be proud,"

"I know. I know."
