Chapter One -

"Hayden, I'm tired of being the innocent nerdy girl I've been my whole life. It's our senior year, I'm seventeen years old, and I haven't even had my first kiss!" I explained to my best friend as we walked into school together. It was the middle of our senior year, and even though I should probably be excited to graduate soon, I'm not.

"Alaina, it's sure to happen soon. You're gorgeous, and smart, and funny. You just have to be more out there. Name five people you've talked to in high school besides me." Hayden demanded.

"Mrs. J-"

"Teachers don't count." Hayden added.

I sighed, she was right.

We walked into the office to get our new schedules. In the middle of the school year we always get new schedules, which is weird.

"What do you have first?" Hayden asked.

"Science. You?" I responded. Her squeal was enough to confirm we had the same first period. Not only did we have our first class together, we had every class together. It was made that way because my aunt worked at the school and made the schedules, but Hayden didn't know that, nobody did.

"Who is Mr. Matthews?" I asked looking at my schedule.

"He's the new math teacher. Mr. Hanes had like a psychotic break and had to retire. You didn't hear about that?"

I shook my head. As I started walking towards the science room.

The rest of the day went by really slow, and it was now time for math. I stood at the end of the hall, waiting for Hayden.

"Hi Lainie." she said as she reached me at the end of the hall.

"Hi Hay." I replied turning around and walking into someone and stumbling backwards.

"I-I-I'm s-s-sorry." I stuttered looking at the beautiful man in front of me. He had dark hair and blue eyes.

"Are you okay?" he asked in a deep voice.

"Uh, y-yeah." I stuttered again looking down feeling a blush creep on to my cheeks.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Alaina." I tried to say confidently, but failing.

"Well hello Alaina, I'm Mr. Matthews." he said confidently.

My breath caught in my throat and I started to cough. Could this get any more embarrassing?

"H-hi Mr. Matthews." I said still not looking up at him.

"Hey Alaina, you're late." Mr. Matthews laughed.

I looked up smiling at him.

"That's your fault." I said looking up at him. A smile still plastered across my face.

"Ahh, it may be. But as for you, detention, after school." he smiled back at me.

"Awesome." I said sarcastically before walking away from him and into the classroom.
