Chapter 5

(Sam's POV)

Last night my mother told me everything, or at least I hope that was everything. Simon Cowell is my dad. I guess in some weird alternative universe that would sound more normal and comfortable coming out of my mouth. But then again I know nothing about the man.

I never bothered watching the X-Factor or any other singing shows which means I never really knew about Simon. The only reason I know he's famous is because a lot of the girls at my school talk about One Direction and their Uncle Si or whatever they call him. As you can tell I never bothered obsessing over the UK and the new up coming fetishes with their people. Not that I have anything against the British it's just that I never wanted to know about them just like I thought my dad didn't want to know about me.

But I was wrong. He did want me, he was going to come back and be a father to me. Until she lied to him. He has to know the truth. I have to get his attention somehow, I have to meet him.

And suddenly, an idea popped into my head. Simon Cowell is a judge for X-Factor and luckily for me the auditions in LA this summer aren't full yet and I've got vocals, oh jeeez I sound conceited. Oh well, I can be whatever I want to myself.

I opened my laptop and pulled up the X-Factor website and signed up. OOOOU! I am so excited! I have to tell Cameron he'll be excited. Wait, I still have to tell him about Simon... He is a big Simon fan, I hope he doesn't faint. HAHAHA.

I quickly dialed Cam's number. after about three rings he picked up. " CAM YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO MY DAD IS AND WHAT I JUST DID!" I say as quickly as possible.

"Woah, slow down babe. Haha. Who's your dad and what did you do?" he asks sounding very curious.

"Babe please don't faint or anything when I tell you, pleaaaaase."

"Why would I faint?"

"Cause... my dad is um......."

"Any day now. hahhaa" he playfully interrupts me.

"SimonCowell" I say very quickly and wait quietly for his response. And I keep waiting and waiting... and nothing. I look at the phone to see if he's still there and he is but there's no noise. "Cam?" i ask wondering if he's still conscious. I hear movement through the phone signaling that he's still alive and i can't help but giggle.

"So you're THE Simon Cowell's daughter?" Cameron asked putting emphasis of 'the' and making him sound like a big deal. I mean I guess he is.

"I guess so." I say with a shrug.

"Wow. Babe you have no idea how cool this is. You're Simon Cowell's flesh and blood!"

"Babe. Calm down." I giggle at how weird he's being.

I guess this is kinda cool. I don't feel any different or anything. I just feel like me. Samantha Cowell. Wow, I'm surprised no ones ever asked me if I'm related to Simon. Cowell isn't really a common last name or anything. I don't know, maybe it's just such a weird thing no one ever bothered asking. That's understandable right? Oh well.

"Okay. So other than the fact that your father is the coolest guy ever, what did you do?" Cam asks.

"I signed up to audition for the X-Factor. Isn't that cool? I mean I don't expect to win or anything but I kinda wanna meet him ya know?"

"Babe, that's amazing! I'm so proud of you. You've got vocals so you're gonna win. Don't doubt yourself, you'll do great." he says sweetly.

"Thanks. Oh honey what would I do without you?" I lovingly say.

"I got you babe don't worry. Well I gotta go I have football practice in 10 minutes and I still have to eat and get ready. Bye, I love you!"

"Have fun at practice love you too!" I reply and then he hangs up. I toss my phone across my bed and open up my laptop and decide to search up my dad. "Simon Cowell " I type the words in eagerly and scroll through all the paparazzi pictures and magazine articles. I click on an title that interests me. "Simon Cowell pops the question to longtime girlfriend Lauren Silverman."

"He's married? I guess I can't say I'm disappointed, the more family the better I guess," I say to myself. I continue scrolling through the news of Simon Cowell until I see " Newly Weds, Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman confirm floating rumors about a new bundle of joy soon to be joining the family." I continue to read more as I'm quite intrigued. I have a brother. "The couple eagerly announces to OK! Magazine that they are expecting a new addition to their family in about 6 months since she is 2 and a half months pregnant."

I get all happy and excited until I realize what this is going to mean for me. "He already has a baby, he's not going to want a 17 year old girl now. Maybe I should just call this whole thing off. He's probably better off. But then again that's what Mom said to me and she was so wrong. No one is better off without their dad so it's probably the same for dads. No dad is better off without their child." I think to myself.

So it's decided, I'm going to meet Simon Cowell. I'm going to meet my dad.
