Eva woke up with a splitting headache and a passed out Theo on her floor. She reached her foot out from the covers and nudged him carefully. "Theoooo, wake up." A groan came from the blanket before the black hair emerged and half of the tired boy's face was uncovered. "I'm up, I'm up." The girl rose from the bed and shook her head before standing and walking to the bathroom. She pulled four advils from the cabinet, swallowing two and walking back to Theo, handing him the others. "Thanks," he groggily said while popping them in his mouth and sitting up. "I'm really sorry about last night, it was stupid," Eva said from her dresser. Theo shook his head, "It's okay, I'm just happy you're safe." They left the conversation at that. A phone violently vibrated on Eva's dresser, leaving the hungover teens grabbing their heads before Eva picked it up and read the text.
alex: wanna hang out today?
She typed a 'yes' quickly before getting dressed and running downstairs with Theo. Soon enough, the two were out the door walking towards Theo and Alex's houses. Eva was outside of Alex's house within minutes, waiting for him to come out. She heard faint yelling and a glass break before a figure emerged from the door. "Hey," the blue and green eyed boy said as he approached her. "Are you okay?"
"Yea, my parent's fight a lot. I just needed to get out." Eva nodded and started walking towards the main roads. Eventually, they were laying on a grassy patch looking up at the sky and talking about the future. Sure, they were only sophomores in high school, but life was starting to become a serious worry for everyone. In the little time at school, Eva became very close with all of her friends, but Theo and Alex specifically. Theo was different, someone that made her feel cared for and needed, loved. Alex was just the best friend type. But, she had no clue what was happening behind closed doors. "I wanna just move out." he spoke quietly. "I'm done with all of their drama, their anger, it's exhausting." Eva turned to look at him and saw a sad look on his face. "Alex," she started. He looked up at her and smiled a small smile. "I'll be okay, E. I promise." Eva didn't believe it even the slightest, but instead of fighting, just hugged him. "Do you want to stay at my place tonight?" Alex looked at her with wide eyes. "Really?"
"Of course, let's go." They walked together towards the large gated house, opening the front door before Eva yelled "I'm home." Brendon came out from the living room, slightly taken back by Alex's presence. "Dad, this is Alex. He needs a place to stay tonight. I hope it's okay." Sarah entered, answering for both of them. "Of course."
Eva walked Alex up to her room and they stayed there, talking more and more throughout the night. "E, I really can't thank you enough. For letting me stay here, and talking to me, and just being there." She smiled and nodded "I wouldn't hesitate to do it again Alex. You're one of my best friends." He smiled back to her and settled into the night.

The whole week, Eva's friend group was hanging out and even if they weren't all hanging out, Eva was almost always with Alex or Theo. They were becoming really close, the three of them, and they couldn't be happier.
