Autumn had always been your favourite season. It was never so hot that there were always too many people about, but not so cold that you couldn't go out and adventure about. It brought opportunities and variety. But more than most, it brought him home to you.

You let out a long breath as you fold the last of the laundry and cradle the basket under your arm, carrying it downstairs. Nash is due to land soon, not that you've heard much from him since his flight took off in LA. Its a quiet day for New York, but not downstairs in your kitchen. You heard your mother cursing at herself as she scurries around the kitchen fixing dinner. You laugh silently and shake your head. You had told her not to go through so much trouble, though you are now sure Nash will appreciate a home cooked meal. Since he's been living in his own place in LA his choice of diet had been slightly concerning. 'That's boys for you,' you remind yourself.

Six o'clock comes and goes, its reaching seven and you decide to check in on him.

One ring..two rings...three-

"Hel-lo gorgeous," his voice drags out. You feel your pulse double, it's been too long since you last spoke on the phone.

You greet him with your own hello and then ask, "what's taken you so long I thought you landed at five?"

"Sorry, I was held up at the airport. The girls here are so sweet, well they always are I guess.." he babbled on about how happy it makes him to be greeted at different places by different people- all just as, lovely.

You listen and smile at his enthusiasm, you love that he loves them. "Anyway, I'm 20 or so minutes away from you- do I get food for us?"

You shake your head, but realise he can't see you- he sounds so real for once. "No, my moms cooked for us all, so hurry your ass here," you demand and you hear his laugh from the other line. "Seriously though- hurry." So close, yet so far.

"See you soon beautiful."

You lock your phone and stare at the lock screen for a while, it's a photo of him of course. He's standing above the city he loved so much, arms outstretched. You pull yourself out of your admiring trance and rush upstairs to readjust your appearance. Mentally checking off anything that could potentially ruin how flawless you were aiming to look, you smiled at your reflection- not out of vanity but pure happiness. A sharp buzz, he's here.

Greetings were awkward as it would be if your mother and sister were watching over you as yours were. Your mother overwhelming your guest with offers to take his bags and pour drinks. He declines each with a polite "no thankyou" and smiles, his eyes very rarely breaking from yours. Distance has almost forced you to forget how perfect he is, standing in front of you. Your mother and sister disappear into the kitchen to set the table. Not leaving the stairs you were standing on, you nod your head towards your room and push a finger against your lips. He shook the rain from his hair and lugged his bags up the stairs.

Nash basically has to duck his head down to get through your door and his bag catches awkwardly between it. He laughs and curses as you get up to help the long bodied boy. "Sorry babe," he sighs running a hand through his hair. His coat looked soaked.

"Did you swim from the airport or something?" He narrows his eyes playfully at you and grabs your waist. For a moment your breath hikes and you watch his lips as he scans your face - you wait. Instead of kissing you like you hope, he shakes his wet hair onto you and you scream a little at the cool droplets that hit your skin. "Nash you little-"

"No," he says grabbing you tighter, "you're little." This time he pulls up you by your thighs and you automatically lock them around his waist. He kisses you in a way that can only be described as relieving, like an tickle that hadn't been scratched away. His hands clasping your back and yours around his neck- serenity.

When he pulls away you can only look down at him and wait again for him to say something. "Hi there," Nash murmurs.

"Hey," a small laugh arose from your throat and he silenced it with a kiss just as surreal. Dinner could wait, you decide.
