After an hour or so, Connie was in a hospital room, sitting next to Col's bed. Doctors had done some tests on him to check his blood pressure etc and now he was sleeping calmly, his chest going up and down. His breath was back to normal and Connie was happy to see him safe.
The room was no big deal. There was a tv on the wall, which was now on, some medical machinery here and there, all connected to Col with a series of cables and five boxes of sweets on a table next to Connie, along with notes like "Take care" and "We miss you". Connie had read each one a thousand times while waiting for him to wake up.

She sat on the bed right next to him. She hoped he was OK. Luckily for her, a doctor came by a couple of minutes later to check on him. The blond, skinny man told Connie his heart rates were fine and he was due to recover soon.

Connie observed Col once more. His lips were back to their normal color and his chicks were slightly pink. You could even see a little smile in his lips. He seemed relaxed. Like he was sleeping.

All of a sudden, someone grabbed her hand. It took her a second to realise it was Col. She lifted her eyes to meet his. They were exactly like hers, one green and one brown, though he seemed more sleepy than she was.

"Hey" he whispered softly, trying to understand his surroundings.
"Get some rest" she urged him caressing his hand, though she was happy to see him awake.
"I think I've had enough sleep for a week." he responded trying to sit straight.

There was a moment of awkward silence between them, as none of them seemed to have anything to say. Then, Connie broke it.

"Am I a monster?" she asked staring at him, waiting impatiently to hear what he thought.
Col broke a smile. "Who told you that?"
"No one, I've been thinking about it lately, that's all."
"Well, maybe, since we are in a hospital, you should probably go check if you have a brain damage or something, because you sound ridiculous." he replied playfully.

Connie was so relieved she broke down to tears. All this time, this stress... all for nothing. Col liked her no matter what.

"Hey" he said watching her crying. "Come here". She sat next to him and he hugged her softly. "What you did last summer was incredible. I don't care if you have absorbed a part of Kullervo in you. You are still Connie, the girl I fell in love with and the girl who saved my life more times than I could count. I love you Connie Lionhart." he said and he kissed her.

He had never kissed her before. It was a soft kiss that made them both forget where they were. It was just him and her, alone in the universe, trapped in this very moment.

A moment later, the same doctor Connie had seen before came by to tell them that Col would be free to leave this afternoon. After two hours of eating Col's candies and reading cards, Col's grandma came to get them home.

"You are staying home tonight, young man. Is that understood?" she said strictly. "You can't upset me that way! I'm an old woman, for God's sake!"

"I'm afraid that is not possible." he said smirking. "We have plans for tonight. Connie will be there to have my back."

"Whatever." she said heading for the kitchen.

"So" Connie whispered "who's ready for date-spying?"
