Angel stares at you surprised and worried. A natural response to seeing you, a crazy psychopath. “What the hell are you doing here?” She whispers.

“Nice to see you too.” I grab her arm and drag her to the dance floor. “Stay calm, Paige.”

She dances along with you, so as not to make a scene. “What do you want from me?”

“Nothing. It’s just a pleasant surprise that we crash the same party.”

“How are you still alive? I saw Diamond throw you into the forest over a week ago. You should be dead.”

“It is a miracle that I only suffered a large amount of injuries instead of death.”

“How did you get here after that?”

“I’m lucky, I guess. How did you get here? Diamond looked like a mess last time I saw her.”

“After she got rid of you, it was a few minutes until she returned to her normal self. In fact, she seems even better now than before. She’s a lot less compulsive and doesn’t exaggerate things as much anymore…”

“Yeah that’s great, sorry I asked. Now for the real question, why are you here?”

“For your information, I got a job.”

“Oh really? Not waiting tables, I imagine?”

“No, hardly. Listen, it’s nice seeing you again, I suppose. I’d love to stay and chat some more, but I really do have to go.”

“Oh no you don’t.” I pull Angel closer to me. “Who is it?”

“Who is what?” She says, trying to sound dumb.

“Please Paige, I know what you do for a living.”

“I’m sorry, I can’t divulge that information. And why do you smell like cheese?”

“Don’t change the subject. If you’re killing someone, I want to be a part of it.”

“Ha, you’re the last person I would trust to have my back.”

“I never said that. I just like action, and this job of yours seems like it will have it. Besides, you don’t want me to make a scene do you?”

She looks around at the crowd. Then sighs, “Alright, you can come with, as long as you don’t draw attention to yourself. This is an assassination, not a murder, very different things.”

“First tell me who it is, Paige. You know I love killing as much as anyone, but I like to know who’s about to die.”

“It’s the guest of honor for the party of course. The whole purpose of this party is to introduce them to the public. My client doesn’t want them to get too much attention, so let’s make this quick.” She links arms with you and her attitude changes completely. She smiles and giggles while grabbing a drink, pretending to be your date. She staggers over to the stairs as if she were drunk. “Let’s go honey,” Angel says giddily. “I want to show you something.”

“Just a second, dearest.” I smile as I pull her back down the steps, feeling for any weapons on her. I whisper, “Tell me why.”

She has two knives under her belt and what feels like darts by her calf. She whispers back angrily, “It is not my position to ask why, I just do it. Now get your hands out of my dress.” She pushes you back and laughs, “Oh stop that honey, lets continue up stairs.” She bolts upstairs and drags you along. She takes a left and goes down the hallway.
