"taehyung!"

i cough and wheeze as i run over to the boy stacking logs in front of his home in the woods.

"whoa, what's got you in a hurry, chiko?" he asks.

"holy shít that's the most running i've done in forever," i gasp for air, bending over. taehyung places his logs down and walks over to me, standing at my side and patting my back.

"did you run all the way over here from the castle?" he asks, gesturing for me to sit down on the bench.

i nod as i take a seat, still taking deep breaths.

"so did you come here for something or..?" he sits down next to me.

"okay, first of all," i start off, "sorry for not coming by to tutor you. father had me in his site the past few days to make sure my diet was strict and i exercised and slept on time and studied and what not as preparation for tonight."

"and second of all," i continue, "the ball is tonight and kook asked me to sneak you in as a guest as a way of thanking you for preventing me from getting married."

"it's fine, i've been studying on my own and reading ahead in the textbooks. but me? at a royal ball? with other royal people? invited but the prince?! i think something's awfully wrong here," taehyung observes.

"he really wants to meet you," i tell him.

"wait, how does he know me?"

"i uh.."

"no way.." his face brightens. "you talk about me to him? is it good? are you speaking well of me? how does he react to me?"

"he wants to steal my friends because he can't make any of his own," i say, half lying half serious. "anyways, lets go the balk starts in a few hours."

"i never agreed to go."

"cmon, pleeeease?" i beg. "we'll even dress you like the other princes."

"i won't fit in with them well," he contemplates, standing up from the bench.

"you can stay with me and kook the whole time. c'mon, it'll be the chance of a lifetime."

"i don't know.." he drifts off, slightly smiling. his eyes close as he crossed his arms and faces the other way.

"you don't even need to be in the ballroom. you and kook and i can just hide in my room or his room or something."

"can i bring stall noodles?" he asks, opening one eye to look at me.

"of course. kook's been dying to try them after hearing about how good they are."

"deal," taehyung grins. "i'll put these away first." he bends down to pick up the last of his logs and walks over to the stack next to the house, effectively. he straightens his back, clapping he dust and dirt off his hands and wiping it on his slacks. "shall we?" he asks, putting out a hand, sheepishly smiling.

i nod and grin, taking his hand as he leads us out of the woods and into the main town.

jungkook sighs as he stared outside the castle window and into the town below. the sky was getting darker by the minute, currently at a purplish state. he leans his chin in his palm as he rest his arms in the window sill.

"when are they gonna come back?" he sighs, swinging his legs off the sill to jump on his mattress.

spreading his legs and arms, he lies comfortably on the bed. his sister had gone out two hours ago to invite taehyung to the ball and she still wasn't back.
