Two battles to win

Family reunion

          As they crouched in a distant crevice observing the suspected imperial outpost Ezra grew impatient. "How sure are we your father is in there?" He said. "Well our spies in the capital says he's here and they've been right so far." Sabine replied then activated comms. "Rau I've got a squad of storm troopers in front plus multiple cannons." She said. "Copy that specter five moving to you right flank." Rau said "Sabine doesn't it seem a little suspicious that the Empire moved your father so far from the capital." Kanan spoke up through his comm.
          "My father has many friends he's not just important to me. They probably locked him up out here to prevent someone to do what we're about to do." She told him getting annoyed. "That may be true but I'd put nothing past these Saxon clan traitors." Rau said sounding just as or possibly more annoyed than Sabine.
        "We're in position specter five." He said "Copy that Rau, over." Sabine said then turned off her comms. "Alright Clan Wren check your fire for the captive we're going in the front door." She said and the Mandolorian troops got in position. "What's wrong with you." She said shifting her attention to Ezra. "I'm just having trouble with this jet pack." He said trying to readjust it. "Your a Jedi I'm pretty sure you'll pick it up on the fly." She said then chopper made a his usual grumbling sound while waving his arms at Ezra. "Yes, on the fly I get it chopper." Ezra said rolling his eyes.
          Then Sabine got out of the crevice drawing attention of the storm troopers. She pulled out and ignited her dark saber signaling for the Mandolorians and Jedi to jump out along side her. "Forward." She yelled and everyone ran or activated their jet packs. Everyone was firing or dogging blaster shots, except for Ezra who was struggling to get control of his own jet pack.
          In his frenzy he caught a glimpse of Kanan slicing imperials jet packs and then fall to the ground. He then heard and saw blasters being shot at him so he ignited his light saber in an attempt to block them. Do to the jet pack a cloud of dirt covered the storm troopers and blocked them from seeing Ezra land behind them. By the time they did notice Ezra was ready and redirected both blasters back at the troopers killing them.
After that his jet pack activated once again but this time he was able to land next to Sabine. Only to see an imperial carrier getting ready to drop two walkers. "Well this just got more and more.." Ezra trailed off "Interesting the word you're looking for is interesting." Sabine finished for him. 'Well at least one of us is optimistic.' Ezra thought. Then the walkers dropped and the Mandolorians began firing "Nope just more." Ezra yelled and the two began running then Sabine took off and fire her missile at one.
It didn't do much damage so the walker fired but Sabine activated her shield yet it still sent her flying back. "Sabine." Ezra yelled and ran forward but three troopers landed in front of him. Two of them shot at Ezra but he deflected the shots while the third one walked towards Sabine. He shot a pulse making her lay motionless on the ground. "Stand down Jedi or she dies." He said pointing the gun at her. Then the walker Sabine shot stepped forward aiming its gun at Ezra. "You son of bitch." He said then deactivated his lightsaber. The trooper laughed and Ezra's anger grew. Before any thing could happen a missile struck the side of the walker and Ezra saw three Mandolorians fly overhead.
"Don't just stand there protect her." One of them said then they began taking down remaining storm troopers. The ones they didn't began to retreat as Ezra sliced through one of the walkers legs and it collapsed to the ground. Sabine got up igniting her dark saber and yelled "Clan Wren follow me.".
She and others ran inside as Ezra flew to the top of the building and Kanan jumped up right behind him. They watched the new Mandolorians fly towards the building then turned to see Sabine and Rau walk out along side them. "Where's your father?" Ezra asked her "The out post is empty there's no one here." She said taking off her helmet with anger and sadness in her voice.
The three Mandolorians landed in front of the group and their leader said "This was a trap meant to lure you in. Your mother tried sending you a message but it couldn't get through, the Empire is jamming all transmissions. She sent me ahead to enforce you but I understand she's on her way." Sabine just looked confused. "Who are you?" She asked and the leader took off her helmet to reveal a woman with green eyes and short red hair. "Kanan and Ezra this is lady Bo Katan from House Cresse." Rau said.
"Her sister Satine once ruled Mandolore. She was made region by the Jedi at the end of the clone war. Some still see her as the rightful ruler of Mandolore." He said. Ezra stepped forward giving a quick glare at him. "So what happened?" He asked her "After the war I refused the Empire and was betrayed by Saxon clan." She replied. Sabine starred at the hilt of her dark saber and stepped forward "Your commitment to Mandolore is legendary my lady this belongs to you." She said holding it front of Bo.
Kanan and Ezra looked shocked but stood there nonetheless. "I had my chance to rule and I failed I am not my sister." She said putting on her helmet and turning away from Sabine "I am not the leader you seek." She said then walked off. Though Ezra couldn't be sure he believed to have  sensed sadness coming from Sabine at Bo Katan's decision. "See if you can contact my mother." Sabine told Rau "Right away." He said and began walking with Bo and her troops Kanan then following suit. Ezra walked to the edge and stopped along side Sabine.
"Your home planet is much different from mine." He said "Once upon a time these plains were filled with grass. I never saw it this destruction happened before I was born." She said looking back at him. "And it never grew back?" He asked "This is what continuous war has done to my planet." She said looking back over the plain fighting back tears she refused to let Ezra see. "Maybe-Maybe this is your chance to change things." He said and before Sabine could reply chopper started making his usual frantic beeping and grumbling.
He used one arm to point to the sky where Ezra and Sabine saw four Clan Wren members flying towards them. As they landed two of them took of their helmets revealing Sabine's mother Ursa and her brother Tristan. "Mother any news?" Sabine asked "The Empire has changed their plan. They are moving your father back to the capital for public execution." She replied.
"We need to free him now." Sabine said almost shouting. "We know which is why we already have a plan in mind to free him from the imperial transport." Tristan said standing next to his mother. "We will be getting in position soon." Ursa continued. They walked in side to discuss the plan but Sabine stood there thinking. Ezra placed a hand on her shoulder and she let him which made Ezra a little more worried about her. "You ok?" He asked "How can I be with the knowledge of if we don't get to him in time my father will die." She said fighting back tears once more.
"We will get him back." He told her "How can you know that Ezra." She said turning to face him. "Because you'll be leading the charge." He said pulling her into a hug and was surprised she hugged him back. 'I can't believe this a boy who had a crush on me all those years ago. Now he's the man I love." She thought blushing. "Sabine you alright?" Ezra asked and Sabine pulled away saying "Y-Yeah I'm good." She replied. They then saw everyone exciting at the bottom of the building and the two flew down to join them.
"Where are we going?" Sabine asked her mother "We are going to intercept the transport and free your father." She said. "You make it sound so easy." Ezra said smiling "That's because it will be." Ursa said smiling as well. As they made it to the canyon where they were to intercept Ezra, Sabine, Kanan, Rau, and Bo Katan all waited as the rest of the troops flew to draw the attention of the transport.
"I'm gonna contact Hera while we wait." Kanan said taking chopper to contact her. They sat there for a couple minutes and Ezra got impatient again "I still don't see anything." He said "Give my mother a chance." After a few more moments they all heard explosions in the distance then saw smoke rising into the air. "Yup that's my mom." Sabine said smirking under her helmet. "Blowing things up definitely runs in your family." Ezra said. "It's a Wren specialty."  Sabine replied.
          Sabine's comm beeped and her mother's voice could be heard. "Sabine we've engaged Kyber Saxon's imperial dogs. The prisoner convoy has changed course towards the canyon." She said. "Then the diversion worked." Bo said "There I'm scanning a single passenger, no armor in the center transport. The one most heavily guarded." Rau said pointing to the incoming three transports and the storm troopers on speeders heading their way.
          "If we attack the lead vehicle my fathers transport will fall back. Then someone can sneak up sabotage its controls and force it to stop." Sabine said. "By then the rest will be to far ahead to do anything about it. So who's going in?" Rau asked "Yeah that sounds like a me plan." Ezra looking at Sabine and pointing to his chest. "Are you sure? You haven't exactly mastered that jet pack yet." Sabine said. "Hey, I got it." He replied.
          Chopper responded with beeps and grunting until Kanan came up behind him. "He can do it chop just get ready to jam their comms." He said then chopper activated his antenna to do just that. Ezra put on his helmet and began walking to position "Go easy on 'em." He told Sabine "No chance." She said igniting her dark saber. Then she jumped off the edge and flew past the lead transport and fire a missile at the center transport. Instead of exploding it covered the windshield with purple paint.
          All troops began focusing fire on Sabine but she moved to the back and began firing back. "Now." She yelled then Bo and Rau flew out of their hiding spot and started firing. Sabine then knocked off a storm trooper and stole his speeder firing along the sides of all the transports. Kanan then made his move jumping on the first transport and force pushing to troopers into the center one. As expected the center transport began to fall back only for Ezra to use his jet pack to grab hold of the back without being seen. Crawling underneath he activated his lightsaber and sliced through but lost his grip and fell back grabbing on again.
          He had hold on tighter when the transport sped up, hitting the other two. Sabine used the speeder to go to the back only to see Ezra giving her a solute making her roll her eyes under her helmet. She fell back and used her dark saber to slice through another speeder having the trooper roll across the ground. Kanan then landed on the front of her speeder "How we doing so far?" He asked "Could be worse." Sabine said "Keep telling yourself that." He replied and jumped on to the nearest transport.
          Moments later troopers fell out of that same transport and it stopped making Kanan jump out and start running to ketch up. Sabine sped up behind Ezra and yelled "Ezra stop fooling around and get my father out of there." Then used her shield to block a blaster shot. "Working on it." He said and climbed to the top of the transport. Once he made it to the front he kicked the guard out the other side and began fighting the two drivers. He dodged a punch then did a spin kick to the first driver sending him flying out. He then forced pushed the other turning his attention to who he could only assume was Sabine's father.
          "Are you with Sabine." He said "Yeah I'm with her. I mean I'm not with her with her I'm just friends with her." Ezra said blushing under his helmet. 'Well this just got super awkward." He thought than his comm beeped and chopper spoke through. Though Sabine's father couldn't understand Ezra could "Cliff what do you mean cliff." He said. Then both of them filled with fear as Ezra looked out to in fact see that the transport was heading towards a cliff. He went to Sabine's father "Are you a Jedi?" He asked "Let's hope so." Ezra replied and sliced through Sabine's Father's restraints.
          As he took off his jet pack Sabine's voice came over his comms "Ezra get out of there." She yelled. "Here sir take this." He said placing his jet pack on Sabine's father back. "How will you get out?" He asked "Trust me I'm better without it." Ezra replied. Then they felt the lurch of the transport going over the cliffs edge. Ezra forced pushed Sabine's father out and he activated Ezra's jet pack flying back to top of the cliff. Ezra then got out of the transport running along its roof. Reaching the end he jumped on to the second transport then the next finally jumping to the cliff edge. He barley got hold and began to slip only for Sabine to catch him by his hand. "I was wondering when you were going to show up." He said as Sabine pulled him up all the way.
          "Shut up." She said "So I guess you've met my father Alrich Wren" She continued. "Yeah you could say that." Ezra said. As they walked back to the rest of the group Alrich handed Ezra back his jet pack "Thank you young Jedi." He said "No problem." Ezra replied. "Father." Sabine said drawing the attention of both of the men. They just stood there starring at one another in silence until Sabine took off her helmet showing her father that she was his daughter. "When I got word that you had returned I did not believe it." He said "And." Sabine said hinting at him to continue. He stepped towards her then pulled her into a hug saying "Sabine, you are my daughter."
          Sabine then hugged him back and Ezra removed his helmet starring at the two feeling happy that Sabine could be reunited with father. They then pulled away "I was proud then, even more now." Her father said. "Well we would never leave you in the hands of the Empire." She said "Oh no that was fine I meant your art work." He replied surprising everyone there. "You've progressed your use of color and line is better." He continued "Better, what do you mean better? It's great." She said showing her usual self. "It's getting their, your design is still a derived of the exiled masters." He said surprising Ezra at the fact Sabine allowed anyone to speak about her art like that. "Tojan was an influence obviously but I made it my own. I thought you had a sharper eye." She said slightly getting annoyed.
          "Now I see where Sabine gets her creative side." Ezra spoke up before Sabine went crazy over the subject. "Oh no master Jedi Sabine gets that from her mother. Ursa knows how to destroy her enemies in so many creative ways." Alrich said. "And here I thought we were rescuing another warrior." Ezra joked "My dad fights with his art." Sabine said casting a side glance at Ezra. "We need to get moving we're to exposed here." Bo spoke up "Countest Wren we've rescued your husband. Alrich is free." Rau said through his comm. "Then we have two victories today Saxons forces are in retreat." Ursa said followed by more blaster shots.
"Wait, their not all retreating." Tristan spoke up "Looks like incoming imperial transport." He said. "Wait reinforcements to cover their escape." Sabine said "They've deployed a single scout walker with no other support it's moving into attack position ." Tristan said. "Laughable, destroy it." Ursa said then a high pitch screeching-like noise was the only thing heard. "That sound, it can't be." Sabine said sounding very worried "Tristan get out of their now." Sabine shouted through Rau's comms. Then the sound got louder until there was static "Mother, Tristan." Sabine said. "What is that?" Ezra asked making everyone turn their attention to the sound of an explosion and a bright white light. "No." Sabine said and flew off with Rau, Bo, Ezra, and chopper flying behind her as Kanan and Alrich took a stolen speeder.
Upon arrival there were multiple lines burnt into the ground "No,no,no." Sabine said taking off her helmet. "What happened here?" Ezra asked "Where are survivors of this battle. The wounded, the victors." Bo said "I see only the defeated." Alrich said walking towards the group from the speeder. Ezra looked to the ground to see severely burnt armor fragments "Mandolorian armor. What happened here." Ezra said. "A weapon did this. A weapon created by my daughter." Alrich said and Sabine feel to her knees letting all the tears she was keeping inside finally fall onto the scorched earth.
