I woke up to clothes that were thrown on my face. I groaned due to the fact that all I wanted was to stay in bed all day. Maybe even for the rest of my life. That was by far the best sleep I ever had, and I wasn't too keen on having it end so quickly.
A yawn escaped my mouth. When my eyes finally cleared up to let me see who was in front of me, a familiar voice made me even more awake. It was Haley.
"How you feeling?" she asked me.
I yawned again before responding. "I'm good... wish you'd let me sleep, but other than that, pretty good."
Haley rolled her eyes and sat beside my bed. "Sleeping's for people that let the wonders of life pass by," she claimed. "Get dressed. There's a festival happening outside that you don't want to miss."
I raised a brow. "What kind of festival?"
"It's called The Festival of Blessings. Witches hold it every year, and everyone in Central Republic show their support by celebrating it," Haley informed me.
My distrust for supernatural creatures remain. As much as I'm grateful for the hospitality Haley, Curtis and the other werewolves have shown me, a part inside me wasn't too comfortable with witches and vampires yet. Nevertheless, I gave Haley a smile before I walked over to the bathroom and got dressed.
Once I closed the door, I gazed upon Central Republic's insignia on the wall. It was in my room as well. Perhaps Central Republic wants all patients, including humans, vampires, werewolves, and witches to get the idea that they can in fact live in harmony. I took my mind off it and washed my face.
I used a towel to dry up and brushed my teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste that was provided for me. I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't done this for months. I hope the vampire blood cured any dental issues I may have had as well.
I gargled and rinsed and put on the clothes that Haley gave me. They were a little big. I assume they're Curtis'. I forgot he stayed with me last night. I reminded myself to thank him if I get a chance to see him again. What Haley said was true... werewolves are in fact a welcoming race, especially to those in need. I definitely could have used the help, but I didn't expect such compassion.
Haley motioned me out the door as soon as I was done to get me checked out of the hospital.
As we made our way through the halls of the hospital, we walked pass by the vampire doctor and witch nurse that helped healed me. Both of them smiled at me and I did the same in response. I saw a purple glow in the woman's eyes and a red one in the man's. I signed a few papers and out we went.
We took a train to a section in Central Republic nearby the Witch Sector. Banners and flags with a purple pentagram hang from buildings and lamp posts. Haley told me it was the witch insignia. I've seen four symbols that represent four factions. However, I've yet to see what symbol the human's use or if they have one at all.
People crowded by the side of the street, and I couldn't help but wonder what they were anticipating. "Are they waiting for something?" I asked Haley
"They're waiting for the witches that will be giving them blessings," she responded. "Citizens of Central Republic offer gifts to four witches in return for good fortune in the form of magic."
Haley and I continued walking until we finally came to a clearing of people and waited for the four special individuals I was told earlier by the side of the street. All of this just seemed so unreal to me. It was just a few days ago I was inside a snack-shack, trapped in my own thoughts and waiting for my death to arrive. When I finally returned back to the city I was unpleasantly greeted by vampires and rescued by werewolves. Now I'm celebrating a witch holiday. I began to doubt the definition of possible.
