I ran for as hard as I could, for as long as I could, for as hard as I could. No matter how fast my feet pattered across the gravel, behind me was a sound of feet stomping with a purpose. They took large, continuous steps; they must have had large legs. Large legs for a large person.

A large blade for a large person with large legs.

I had never been so terrified in my life, screeching sounds of clanking metal and grunting coming from behind me. As my breath became too heavy to bear and my legs began to vibrate with every step I took, I made a fatal mistake.

        I slowed down.

I felt nothing for a moment. Not the ground, not the air, not the Earth. I only felt someone. Someone leeched onto my back with a purpose. As the moment passed, I took a violent crash to the stones and cobble upon the road and felt myself become straddled by the large person, with the large legs, with a large blade, with a purpose. I struggled to turn around, just hardly catching a glimpse of what dare follow me. Long hair, and surprisingly elegant curve. Certainly no man could have both of those, not to the degree of elegance. Crimson eyes pierced my own as I dared to stare longer, my fate reflecting brightly within her eyes. I knew my end was near, as she lifted up her small blade, which lusted for blood upon the shining, golden surface. Driving it down into my chest, I felt it grind and destroy my once solid ribs, making a velvet pulp out of my chest.

Then, everything stopped. My thoughts, my sight, and my heart. The only thing left was the feeling of burning. And falling. Falling into the burning.

        Collapsing into the fire.
