(Toni's POV)
Not a lot has changed since Cheryl and I got back together. We've been arguing a little more than usual, which is kind of annoying.
I just don't like being told what to do. I never have, and never will. Ever. "Is something wrong, Cheryl?" Right! I forgot to tell ya that where I'm at. Babe and I are currently shopping for a gift for Betty's wedding or something, I forgot... But I'm not gonna tell anyone that of course. "TT!" "Yeah?" "Thank God you said something, I was starting to get worried." She holds my hand as we stroll around the place. "So what else do you know about your Betty?" I ask.
We suddenly get into the topic of Betty's taste in purses. "Do you wanna go into that Michael Kors store? You told me your future brother-in-law likes that kind of stuff?" I point out the store. "Sure, why not? Betty really has a liking for their purses."
The store isn't too-too crowded; considering that it's two stories big. A few people are looking at the purses and bags, while others are browsing through the clothes and sale items. They usually don't have deals like that here. Weird I guess... "Do you know much about Jughead?" Cheryl asks me while tugging slightly on one of my shirt sleeves. "He likes food. I don't understand you sometimes. Why are you planning to get the groom a gift but you're looking at an expensive-looking necklace? That's a lot of looking..." I ask. "You see Toni,"
I feel like I'm in trouble now... "I was thinking of wearing this to their wedding." A lady wearing one of those business outfits (in the picture above) walking towards us with a pamphlet-like paper in hand. "Hello you two, welcome to Michael Kors! What are you looking for today?" I glance at my girlfriend and then back at the lady. She probably works here, I assume. "My cousin is getting married and we're shopping for gifts." Cheryl replies and I nod after that. "Is that all? Are you not shopping for early Valentine's gifts or something?" "No?" I mutter irritably.
Cheryl pulls me aside and I let my shoulders droop. "What was that?" "I didn't like being addressed like a snob." I answered simply. "This is the perfect opportunity to get a gift and you just sort of shove it away." She huffs. "You know we could always browse online or come back tomorrow." I suggest and shrug. "If only this didn't happen so much..." I overhear my girlfriend mutter to herself. "Am I too out of control for you?" I ball my hands into fists and shove them into the pockets of my faux leather skirt. I search with my eyes for the nearest Cinnabon and leave in that direction.
I've been to this mall enough times on dates to know where most of these places are, and sweet cinnamon rolls tend to calm me down quickly. Before I could get closer to the Cinnabon, I feel a vibration and hear a faint chorus of "Sweet but Psycho" by Ava Max.
Probably Cheryl calling...
I take my phone out and see a pic of Cheryl with her niece and nephew on there with 'Babe' on the front. "Hello?" I pick up. "TT WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?! ARE YOU GOING TO-" I'm just sorta not in the mood to put up with her bossy yelling. It's been getting old and since she made that stupid list, I've been feeling like I'm never enough for her.
The phone starts vibrating and ringing in my hand again and I honestly don't want to pick up. But if I don't, that will just make everything worse. "Sorry, it got disconnected." I lie. "Not again...I know you're lying." "Why aren't you giving me hell?" I ask. "Whatever, just meet me at Urban Plates or something for lunch and we'll talk about this more later." She mutters all melancholy-like. Since when do I say 'melancholy'? It's obvious that something is wrong and it's all my fault. I feel bad now, like I'm just a disappointment again. I'm used to it, but the fact still hurts. You know, the usual..
I'm going to have to fix this all up.
