-A.N.: The story in this fanfic is not necessarily accurate concerning the timeline of the actual events that took place in real life, such as the recording of the "We Are The World" music video or Diana's marriage. I simply tried to create an environment that would make things seem as plausible as possible.

I hope you enjoy.

-We Are The World recording session-

The recording session was just over. The singers were going out one by one. Michael kept analyzing each part as if he had to stop and recall one of them to fix something before they disappeared into the night.

"Michael, let Quincy do his job." Diana pleaded.

The rain outside poured merciless and the drivers were uneasy about taking them to their final locations. The risk of getting stuck in traffic and consequently discovered by the paparazzi was increasing by the second.

"Ms. Ross, we're gonna have a problem. Apparently the roads are filled and the storm is only going to get worse." The driver that was supposed to take Diana to her hotel, an almost 6 ft tall dark skinned bald man named Roger, was walking in circles, pressing buttons on his radio as if that was gonna make the weather change.

Diana seemed to be the only one who listened to him. Michael was still absorbed with his headphones on, though he had just spent the last 6 hours doing the same thing over and over. It would be perfect, she knew it. She also knew he wouldn't be satisfied by that word. Nothing was ever perfect. A quality, yes. A defect? Definitely. But that was only one of the many reasons why she admired him, he was never okay with something halfway good, it had to be as close as the forbidden word as possible.

"Mr. Jackson." Philip, Michael's driver, a pale dark haired middle age man appeared at the door of the room. His look preannouncing bad news.

"Michael, Philip is talking to you." Diana said as she touched his back.

"Yes?" Michael put down the headphones, seemingly surprised with that many people staring at him.

"Mr. Jackson, the engine of the vehicle is not responding. We've tried everything. We already tried to call the company to send another vehicle but they said it is impossible with the current weather." Philip announced.

"Oh no... That's terrible. We're gonna have to wait a long time." Michael didn't look sad at all, though. He picked up the headphones again.

"He's going with me. Roger will drop him by his hotel." Diana said.

He had already spent way more time there than he should. She could tell. She wouldn't let him spend the whole night there.

"Thank you, Ms. Ross. We'll keep trying to fix the problem until we get another call from the company. They should send someone as soon as the rain gives us a break." Philip told her.

"Good luck, Philip." Diana said as she put her hands on top of Michael's headphones and pulled them out.
"Let's go, Michael."

"Let me just..." He grabbed them back.

"Michael, get up. Don't you ever go to sleep?" Diana pulled his jacket up.

"Okay, okay. I'm going." Michael stood up like a child who was asked to do his chores.

"Quincy, I'll get in touch with you tomorrow, there are still some things I wanna add."

"I'm sure there are, Michael." Jones had a half smile of his face. After years working with that boy, he knew his ways pretty well, almost too well for his liking.

"Go before Diana decides to take off without you." He joked.

"Philip, I'm so sorry this has happened. Get in touch with me later and I'll compensate you for it." Michael was concerned about his driver spending the night trying to fix the car under the rain.

"Compensate? Mr. Jackson, it's the company's fault. If anything they will have to pay you back, sir." Philip responded.

"Well, anyway, we'll sort it out tomorrow. Take care." Michael concluded, grabbing the sunglasses he had worn for the recording.

"These are so much more useless now than they were a few hours ago." Diana stared at the glasses.

She had unsuccessfully tried to make him put them down for the recording, those sweet eyes deserved a chance to be shown. No deal. Or half of a deal. He did take them off for the part where they would be shown side by side at the first chorus. The piece where Michael made sure they sang together.

"Why do you hate my sunglasses so much? I think they're very cool." He joked.

"And also they hide these." He pointed at the white patches on his skin, the sweat had watered down the make up he used earlier.

Diana catched his eyes. The sadness they always had in them, since he was a little boy, intensified for a brief second.

"Let's get going, I don't want you to get too soaked up." He said, walking back and putting his hands on her shoulders, guiding her towards the exit.
