Chapter 5

Jamies POV

We slowly walked into her apartment with our guns raised, I motioned for Eddie to stay where she was, but of course she didn't listen so I motioned for her to check out the dining room while I go towards her bedroom.

"Clear!" She said, from the dining room.
"Clear!" I said from her bedroom.

Her bedroom had definitely been tampered with.
Her dressers were all opened, clothes were on the floor and there was glass from her Knick knacks everywhere.

"What the hell.." Eddie said in shock of what happened.

Danny and Baez came as soon as they could.

Eddie was checking out the bathroom when we heard her yell.

"Guys! You better see this!" She yelled.

I ran into the bathroom to see what was going on.
She held up a piece of paper that read:
You can't hide from me forever Eddie, don't even try, I have eyes everywhere babe. See you soon? Xx

Eddie was speechless.
Luckily she had gloves on when she picked up the letter; we could still check it for fingerprints.

"You guys can't be working this case, you guys need to go to the safe house on 5th now." Danny said, sternly.
I gave him a confused look

"If he's looking for her, then why wouldn't he be after you too kid?" Danny said

"Look, I don't want to put Jamie in any danger and I always don't want this guy running me out of my own place. I can handle this on my own." Eddie said.

"You're not putting me in any danger, I'm going to stay with you because I want to, you're my partner and I'm going to look after you and make sure you're safe regardless" I said to her.

"And now isn't the time to want to be prideful Janko, we have reason to believe that this isn't just a one man job" Danny said.

"What? Why? Who? " Eddie said frantically.

"Well we aren't sure of who, but there's two sets of dirty footprints leading to your bathroom" Danny said.

"I didn't even notice that" I said shocked.

"Yeah well we did. So are you guys going to take the safe house or what?" Danny asked, sternly.

I looked over at Eddie to see what she was thinking.

She didn't say anything, she just shook her head in frustration and walked towards to the door.
"Hey, where are you going?" I asked.

Eddie ignored me and kept walking.

"Eddie, what is it?" I asked as I finally stopped her.

"I'm just pissed off that all of this is happening. I'm mad that we have no idea where Jake is, and that he may have several partners out here watching me. Going to a safe house isn't going to make me feel safe. He's controlling my life Jamie, he's getting exactly what he wanted. But I'm even more mad that now you're in the middle of this. I don't know what I would do if something happened to you.. I just..Im just so sorry Raegan" She ranted as she began to cry.

"Eddie, that monster isn't in control of your life, you are. I know you're frustrated and overwhelmed right now, but refusing to go to the safe house isn't going to make this easier for you okay? And I promise you that as long as you're with me nobody is ever going to touch you again. I'd die before I'd let that scum of the earth hurt you again." I said as we sat in the stairs at the bottom of her apartment complex.

She sniffled and gave me a smile.

"Now that's the smile that I've missed" I said while looking deeply into her beautiful eyes.

"And look, you don't have to worry about me getting hurt, do I not have a badass partner by my side?" I said teasingly with a smile.

"Believe it or not, you always know how to make me smile Raegan" she said smiling with her head now on my shoulder.

"Ditto, Janko...ditto" I said, enjoying every second of her closeness.
