MARTHA'S POV (3RD PERSON)

Martha Rawlins smiled in triumph as she kicked the last box of her clothes to the side and flopped back on her soft plaid comforter-clad bed, drained. "That was one kick ass load of unpacking to do." She groaned to nobody in particular as she stared out of the window in her medium sized room, gazing at the lush greenry and small respectable houses of her new town- her new home.

The lush greenry of the groves and clumps of trees of all sizes and descriptions stood out noticeably against the rosy, pink hues of the sky in the horizon. Martha stood mesmerised at the sight before her, thinking about her life in the city before she moved. There was no beauty there, unless enormous, soaring buildings and houses counted as beautiful.

Also it was suffocating. The neighbours were so nosy and left no privacy and well... there were some other things that made Martha leave in such a hurry. Things that left her confused and making some bad choices.

Martha lost herself in her thoughts while absent-mindedly running a hand through her wild tangled mess for hair. She frowned at how long it had gotten, and how tangled too.

When last did I even get a haircut?!

Martha cringed as she thought back to when she was supposed to get a haircut atleast three years ago. Procrastination was definitely one of her worst points.

She strolled towards what she thought was the direction of the bathroom and cursed out loud when she realized she walked into the living room. Then she retraced her steps and went in the correct direction of the bathroom.

With a pair of scissors in hand, she stood next to the clear mirror, examining her chestnut brown hair which flowed in luxurious locks down her back and landed boastfully on her butt.

Martha groaned knowing she that if she decided to cut her hair for herself, she would look like a total ass with the crappy skills she was born with.

I need a freaking hair saloon ASAP!

She groaned in frustration at the thought. A total waste of time.

But no.

She needed to stop looking like a bum with a scraggly hair. Conflict raged like a wild fire between her true wishes and her lazy as fuck self until her eyebrows solved the problem.

She did need to cut her hair and shape her eyebrows- which currently looked like a hairy caterpillars who were in dire need of something.

Martha slunked into the shower and took a quick rinse before slipping into a comfortable pair of Nike shoes and sweats-making up her mind to visit the hair saloon for a pixie cut and the barber's for some eyebrow shaping.

Just as she left the house and closed the door behind her with a surprisingly quiet bang, a sudden thought slammed through her brain.

Does this town even have barber shops and hair saloons? I mean I didn't even see any when I came here! Besides the people here look like they could do anything for themselves!

Martha groaned for the hundreth time that day. It was as if the world was almost trying for her to procrastinate!

"Evening neighbour!"

A loud cheerful voice brought Martha out of her murky vortex of despair.

"Huh.. Oh Mr. Jonas, evening! How are you?" Martha questioned.

"Oh I'm good, hon. I'm good," Mr. Jonas said waving a hand dismissively.

Mr. Jonas was one of the older people of the neighbourhood-one of the very first to come to Martha when she had now moved to town-but was still in good shape despite his age. He was of medium height and build, though his muscles were somewhat flabby. Today he was decked in a complete work-out suit- a blue headband, a blue bodysuit and blue running sneakers. Martha could see that he had been exercising by the darker splotches of blue on his clothes made by his sweat.  Despite the rumours which circulated around him that he was an abusive alcholic who beat his wife till she died one day that gossipy neighbours 'informed' her of-Martha thought that Mr. Jonas was a cheerful man who was too kind for his own good. Just like Martha's mother had been...
