The Human keeps fidgeting, looking over at the Thing as if to gain some sort of insight into how to solve the problem. There's a soft humming in the air different from the ship's normal environmental ambiance. Even though the walls are stark white there is a softness to the hue around it. A subtle peace and tranquility fill the air which makes the Human's movement all the more disturbing.
"Is there a problem?", the Alien asks as politely as possible.
"This chair is...very uncomfortable. I've been on meager vessels before and never in my life have I had to endure such stiffness." The Human stands up and thrusts out its hips, "Was this chair made to be a torture device? Or is it just my bad luck?" Blinking the Human waits for a moment then moves its shoulders up and down.
Rather coldly the Alien responds, "We won't be here too long. Shall we begin?"
The Human looks around the sparsely decorated room only to find the one chair. Resigned to their fate, the Human sits down, "What do you want to know?"
"Based on the nature of your crime I must ask, do YOU know why you are here?"
"Yes."
Puzzled the Alien continues, "Please identify the object next to you."
The Human's face goes completely dull, "It's a potted plant, specifically known as a cactus. A member of the plant family Cactaceae, a family comprising about 127 genera... "
The Alien signals the Human to stop, "I am not your enemy."
The Human interjects, "You're not my friend."
Immediately the Alien asks, "Is the plant?" The Human looks ...wounded and for a brief moment begins to run their finger along the white pot holding the cactus.
"Do you have any?" the Human looks out the window. A cityscape simulation is running, again fidgeting in the chair, "friends. Do you have any friends? I've heard your type tends to be rather solitary. Why is that?"
"I have no need for companionship. My work keeps my mind quite occupied. I find other species require a higher social maintenance than I'd like to support." The Human nods as the Alien continues, "I find other beings are rather fragile, emotionally."
