I've been working a whole load of shifts lately because my sister's birthday is coming up and also I have to get all my new outfits for my dancing show coming up in a couple weeks. I'm a ballet dancer but it's not cheap, I have to pay for; classes, the gym, outfits, shoes, hairdressers, makeup artists and so much more. The only thing I don't have to pay for is food because I'm not really aloud to eat that much, I can't go above the weight of 105. I think I use that as an excuse because I really do love food and because of all the exercise I do, I never put weight on wither I eat or not, it's just because I can't really afford to eat.
I work night shifts at a coffee shop in Manhattan and a cupcake joint during the day in Brooklyn. I barely sleep in general but when it comes up to my sister's birthday, I realize that all the sleep loss is worth it for her, its just amazing to see her face when she sees whatever I get her.
It's her 16th this year and she has begged me so much for a new phone. She's had my old phone since she first got a phone and I know that she feels really awkward with it because all her friends have really good phones. She goes to a private school so all her friends has the best phones that money can buy. She hasn't pressured me into getting her a good phone, only one that doesn't have tape on the back to keep the battery in.
The normal routine for Summer and I, is that she does all her homework and maybe reads a couple books at the library until it shuts then she comes and stays in the coffee shop till I can get a break to take her home and then I go back to work. I usually get off work in time to take Summer to school then go for like an hours nap then straight to work at the cupcake place. After that I usually sleep a little on the subway until I get to my dance studios. I dance and Summer comes to the studio after school, then once my classes are over we go to the library and start our day all over again. I seriously don't remember the last time I slept properly for like a whole night. It's been a really, really long time. Probably a good few years because I've had too look after my sister since I was 15.
My life wasn't always like this, I use to live in a good suburban house with my parents, brother Cole and Summer. I went to school and then ballet classes, I even hung out with my friends but that was until my parents left with my brother. I don't know why they left, I don't even though where they went. It was one morning when I woke up for my ballet class and they weren't in the house. All their stuff was gone, I called around all there friends and nobody knew anything. My parents had abandoned me at 15 with a 10 year old, how could they do that? They took my brother but not me or my sister, I still can't believe it.
To stay together I had to move out of our amazing house in the suburbs and into a shady apartment in Queens. It's all I could afford with the money I found in the safe in the house. I have tried to keep it looking as nice as I can for Summer but it's hard. When my parents left, I had just 2 years left school but Summer had 7 years left, my grandparents had payed for Summer, Cole and I's education in an account that we couldn't access so I made sure to send Summer to the expensive schools she was enrolled to go to and I finished the 2 years I had left.
Life's been pretty bad but we make do with what we have and we do get by.
